Silver Lake is one of the furthest drives I've gone for wheeling, but it was a lot of fun. It was my first experience with "sand dunes" and its completely different from mountain wheeling. Speed and power are major factors, finesse and care are not quite so important. It was a lot of fun. The first day we had many trucks and excellent weather, and the second day it actually snowed and many folks stayed home.
And on the second day, the snow came...
This was also one of the only four-wheeling trips I've gone home from with major body damage, when PalletQueen backed into my truck the second day, damaging the headlight, corner light, fender, bumper, and grill. But it was a good excuse to upgrade parts, went with a new brushguard, HID Headlights, and a lightning grill (though it took about two years to get everything taken care of!). The license plate bracket was busted by ramming the wet dunes, not the accident.
