The Rocky Mountain Ford Truck Club has taken under the endeavour of adopting Saxon Mountain. This is a rather exciting opportunity, since my first personal four-wheeling experience was on Saxon Mountain, and its where I've taken many friends for their first time "wheeling". It's difficult enough so its fun, but easy enough so that any 4x4 vehicle (and some 2x4s) can do it.
The views are spectacular, and once at the top you can look down on Georgetown, the I-70 corridor, and all the surrounding mountains. Nothing on earth can match the feeling.

WHATS INVOLVED
Once in the beginning of summer, and then occasionally throughout the year, we will have runs up the trail, where we will monitor the trail, examine it for any repairs that may need to be done, replace any signs that need replacing, etc. Any repairs that need to be made to the trail can either be done by us (if minor), done by us with the help of Forest Service, or solely by the Forest Service if necessary.

WHAT DOES THIS ADOPTION COST OUR CLUB?
Absolutely nothing. The only cost involved is time. The Clear Creek Forest Service has even offered to provide garbage bags but I think we can provide this on our own.  Signs, supplies, even gloves, etc. are covered by the Forest Service (thats what we pay our taxes for, right?)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Well, we get carma points. And you never know when those will come in handy. We also get a sign placed at the entrance to the trail with our club information posted.
You can never have enough "feel good" points.

MAP OF "OUR TERRITORY"
This is our "section" of trail. While we are welcome to do some of the offshoots of the trail, and the trail all the way through Idaho Springs, our only "responsibility" is the portion of the trail that is highlighted. To see the entire trail, please see BIG Saxon Mountain map.

SCENES FROM THE TRAIL
