2 members requested to be removed... and while I was removing them I saw two users that signed up a long time ago and never even activated their account, so figured they probably weren't going to come back... I shot em an email letting em know, but removed their account.
So yeah, we went down by 4 users.

Requested to be removed?

They must not have liked your email about the stuff this weekend. Geez Matt, way to piss people off.

That's what I figured! I sent out the email and got a response back from two people that said "please remove me from the list/site" so i complied. No worries. Neither of them had any posts and one of them had never activated their account.

The amount of SPAM generated by this site is somewhat ridiculous...

Yeah yeah, thats a loose loose for me, if I dont send out emails occasionally, people say they never knew of upcoming events (because not everyone is a forums addict like me, watching every thread, LOL)... if I send out too many emails, people say I'm spamming, yada yada...

Spammer!

Just kidding - I think it's a good way to remind people of events/news about the site. You won't hear me complain - much... :D

I do get popups.
but, I get popups even when I'm not on the internet! I guess I have a virus, even though I have Norton aniti-virus and Ad-aware!?!?
oh well... it's not that bad 8)
sucks for those who dropped out. :)

the pop-ups don't come from here.

I know.
I get them everywhere, and they're always the same ones.
I run Norton every night before I go to bed and it still doesn't get rid of it.

Try adaware and spybot. both can be downloaded from download.com

I have and run adaware as well as Norton.
I just don't know what to do anymore.
I run both the programs, and popups just keep coming.

But it's a user selectable option to be notified or not. Spam by choice I guess you'd call it.

because not everyone is a forums addict like me

They aren't? What's wrong with you people?

LOL. If an email every 3-4 weeks from a club you join to inform you of upcoming events is considered spam, I'd really like some folks to look through my spam folder in outlook and see some of the crap I get. On average, every day I get about 10 emails from South Africans wanting to give me millions, usually 5-6 Viagra/Cialis emails, and of course several porno ads. I find it a relief when someone actually sends me a NORMAL email.

If you use Internet Explorer........stop using it. That's the best thing I ever did. Every browser has their little quirks but with Firefox I get absolutely zero popups. Hell, it even blocks the PM popup when I log on this site & others. Try installing a different browser (make it your default) then run Adaware & Spybot search & destroy. See what happens then. It might be worth a try.
