Well just got a call back from the Transmission shop. They say tranny is definately out. No 3rd gear at all, other gears on their way out. So its getting an entire rebuild (like I figured it would need).
There putting a shift kit in it for free :).
I was doing some searching on f150online and ford truck world abotu the shift kit I'm getting, which is called a superior shift kit, and basically everyone says its one of the best out there, some say its better then the transgo because it replaces more parts, but it isn't as easy to install as the transgo (i.e. its better to install it while the tranny is apart anyways!) so I'm pretty psyched.

Sounds sweet. Now you can add more go-fast goodies to the engine and try to burn it up again.

naw... its got enough goodies as it is. The only other thing I might do is get my superchip programmed for everything once I get the new tires, etc. so the computer will know about the tire size/gear size change, know about the shift kit, know about the headers, the open cats, etc.

You could add a little NOS for those special occasions.

naw... I'm gonna be so broke after fixing the truck I wont even be able to pay attention! LOL.
I'd heard the same thing back when I was going to do my 00. Since it's going to be off and open, and they're doing it for free, who cares if it's a bit harder, if it's better, heck yeah.
I thought you had a programmer Matt? Or am I mistaken?

I have a superchip, but it hasnt been installed in the truck in over a year. I took it out cause 4-wheeling kept bouncing it out and when it was half bounced out the truck would die and wouldn't start. I got sick of getting freaked out, so I just pulled it until I could get it custom programmed then I'll tape it in there or something.
Ahh, must have been what I was thinking.
That sucks that it bounces out. Maybe they should package them with a couple zip ties for that reason.

well the way the chip sits in the computer, theres no way to zip-tie it to anything. Really tape or glue is your only option. I've heard of some people that use duct tape and it works ok.
Well that really sucks. I guess you'll have to find some designer duct tape, or something.

well luckily the computer is behind a kick panel so you can't see it anyways.

Glad to hear the transmission will be finished.
With your list of things to do, don't forget about the rear bumper. That project is going on two years I think. :D

Got to drive the truck around tonight for the first time in 7 months, felt great :). Of course now the check engine light is on for some reason, they said the O2 sensors were throwing a code when they checked it but I'm not sure I'm going to check the codes tomorrow and see what they say.

Th codes read O2 sensor... guess what, one of the O2's wasn't plugged in tight enough. Got it taken care of and the check engine light is off :).
