Its not for almost two months so hopefully weather will be decent (not too hot, not too cold) but the end of April my lease is up and I am planning on moving up North, near 104th and Wadsworth. I will probably be either renting a U-haul truck or a U-haul trailer, so we can hopefully get everything in one trip. I don't have a ton of stuff, its a 1-bedroom apartment so its not like we'll be moving a whole house, it is basically:
a queen size bed with frame
couch
loveseat
TV
desk
bbq

The rest is just boxes of stuff. No huge entertainment centers, I'm tossing the one I've got now when I move (probably) and I am planning on moving from my 1st floor to a 2nd floor.

washer/dryer too...

mattadams
03-01-2005, 03:41 PM
oh yeah thats true, washer/dryer too... those are the only appliances though. No fridges, dishwashers, etc.
I have a dolly to help with the appliances so it shouldn't be too hard there.

mattadams
03-01-2005, 09:42 PM
This is true, and I will help! :)
Ideally, what I'd like to do is set the move-in date as April 23rd, which is a Saturday. That way I have a week to make damn sure my old apartment is spick and span and everything operational, and so I wont have to freak out with only have a day or two to get things moved over. My lease is up April 30th. I can't wait to get out of here.

Yeah in addition to being closer to Dom and Jeff and some of the others, I will also be about 5-10 mintues from work, and a lot closer to Courtney. And I can sell my Buick, since gas mileage won't be such a big deal anymore...

The "official" move-in date is April 23rd. So anyone that can help out, it'd be greatly appreciated. If we have enough trucks, we can hopefully do it in only one load. I will be going in the day before to get my keys, pay deposits, etc. so won't have to mess with that at all for move-in date.
We may or may not have to move my washer/dryer. Well, it'll have to get moved one way or the other, but the apartment may be coming with a washer/dryer, so I'll be storing mine over at my parents house, or selling.

CNTRYCOWBOY
04-07-2005, 12:52 PM
I know me and Jen will be there with both vechicles. with yours and courtney's trucks we should be able to make it in one trip with 4 more vechicles (trucks preferred).

UrbanCowboy
04-07-2005, 01:00 PM
More than likely you can count me in. I'd give me an 80% sure. If you have enough trucks, I'll probably take my car. If you need another truck, I'll ignore the gas prices and bring it anyway,

mattadams
04-07-2005, 02:18 PM
Well, the more trucks the merrier. I will have my dads truck (my truck can't hold much, except maybe my queen-sized bed, because of toolbox/rollbar), and then Courtneys Jeep (probably) and whoever else can bring trucks too, that'd be great. I'll either chip on gas and/or do dinner, etc.

Well I may have to move it to the following day. Apparently months ago I schedueldd soemthing with a customer for that day, and none of my co-workers are willing to take it over for me, they'd rather I rearrange everything so they don't have to work for a few hours that day. argh.

I'm not sure who's more grateful for the people helping Matt move - him or me! The more people we have, the easier it will be. My girlfriend's move proved that a few weeks ago (she had a small army helping)!

I'm just waiting for Heath to say he's driving down for the weekend to help out. Hey, I can dream...

mattadams
04-12-2005, 07:42 PM
LOL. Yeah what the hell, we all drive out to Idaho to help him move, wheres the gratitude? :).
I will be able to move on Saturday after all, so lets plan on meeting at my place on Saturday the 23rd around 9:30-10:00am . I will already have moved my TV and DVD (gotta have priorities) on Friday afternoon, as well as some fridge stuff more then likely so we have cold drinks when we are unloading.
Here is how to get here, if you've never been here before.
The address is 8000 W Crestline Ave. Apt. 1416
Littleton, CO 80123

To get here, take Wadsworth to Crestline. Crestline is a block south of Belleview, and a block north of Cross, two blocks North of Bowles. Head west on Crestline... and just past the Jiffy Lube, just before HOme Depot, take a right. This will take you to Westlake Greens. Take a right where it forks, and my building is the first building you will see. I am in the southern door, but you can park around it and it will get you closer. you can look for my truck. My apartment is 1416. If you get lost at all

Well, only problem is this... I've already tried for the time off... No go, full up until after memorial day, no more vacation to give out... So, if I leave on Saturday morning I can be there by Saturday night, in time for dinner... Then Sunday morning I get to drive back again!!! But if the vacation time would have been availiable... Hell Yeah... I'm looking for an excuse to come back for a bit!!!

mattadams
04-12-2005, 09:29 PM

CNTRYCOWBOY
04-12-2005, 11:18 PM
Matt we'll try to be over achievers on this one and get there around 9, key word being try! We'll bring the jeep and the truck to haul more shit. I'll probably take out my tool box too, or my truck will be useless. Also just to remind everyone who's coming if you have rope or bungee cords they could be a great help.

mattadams
04-13-2005, 06:42 AM
Thanks Dom! :).
So far, for people with trucks, I've got my truck (which will probably haul the mattress/box spring, thats about all it has room for) and a few boxes... then Doms truck, UrbanCowboys, Ryan Penners, my dad's truck, and then Courtneys Jeep, Jens Jeep, Chris's escape... hopefully we can get everything and do it in one trip, should be able to make quick work of it.
By the way, what does everyone want for food? Pizza? Courtney made a killer lasagna a while ago that she can make before hand and stick in the oven once we get there, or open to other suggestions too. No Moe's though, too far of a drive, LOL.

MMPC
04-13-2005, 07:47 AM
I don't care what you do for food - 'tis up to you Matt. As for people helping it looks like we have a decent group but could always use more! And folks shouldn't worry about whether they have a truck or not - it's more about having plenty of people to carry stuff, load/unload trucks, etc...

mattadams
04-13-2005, 07:53 AM
yeah good point... when we helped Amy move, there was only about 3 trucks, and a few cars, but there was a good 10+ people, and the loading/unloading went VERY quickly.
Of course, it also helped that she had little or no "real" furniture and we'd moved the bed the day before.
Here's the stuff that will have to get moved:
Bed/boxspring/bedframe (my truck should be able to do all of this)
Couch/loveseat... I know those both fit in dom's truck before, so they should fit in any truck.
Computer desk
Entertainment Center (it's pretty small, more like a tall TV stand) - I will be moving the TV and some other things Friday afternoon)
Kitchen table (breaks down easily, very small) and 4 kitchen chairs.
And then about 20-30 boxes, all of the exact same size (found a stash of boxes at work, LOL

The washer/dryer will also need to get moved over to my parents house at some point, but I can do that in my truck with the help of one volunteer (Chris? LOL)

I will also have DETAILED maps of hwo to get to the new apartment complex. Right, Chris?
:)

Yeah, yeah - read it and weep: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=colfax+and+indiana+-+80401&hl=en

I still don't know HOW you missed that turn! :D As for the W/D, yeah I can help you with that at some point...

mattadams
04-13-2005, 08:35 AM
I'm going to go back there some day and prove to you that that road is not marked Indiana. And even so, I had no idea how to get to the apartment once I got to Indiana... I was told "take wadsworth to 70... 70 out to colfax, colfax to indiana, and its not too hard from there" LOL.
For those that don't know the "inside story" of when Amy moved, about half the people had no idea where teh apartment was, vague directions were given on the assumption we'd all stay together, but traffic lights seperated us, and the people that knew where they were going were all together, which left the rest of the people (2-3 cars) to try to figure out how to get there by calling ont he phone.

Well at least you didn't get stuck and have to eat each other! Whiner... LOL And - for the record - the people who were supposed to stay behind and perform "clean-up" duties (making sure nobody got lost) didn't do their job! Not my fault... :D

mattadams
04-13-2005, 09:16 AM
The washer/dryer are going to my parents because the new apartment comes with washer dryer... not as an option, but as an included piece, yada yada... so my parents are storing them for me.
Chris, yes, I will complain, because I can LOL.

I can bring ratchet straps/motorcycle straps (the ones that just pinch closed instead of ratcheting) if needed. With the child seats and tool box left at home It will hold a lot of boxes if needed. Or I can shuttle people to unload if we don't need to haul in mine.

mattadams
04-13-2005, 11:09 AM
yeah I have some straps too if needed. The more the merrier though. Tough to say how much space things will actually take until they start fitting into vehicles...

Maranda
04-14-2005, 10:09 AM
Hey Matt,
Ryan no longer has the F150. We got rid of it to get the <cough> minivan. So he would either bring the "little" Explorer, or take the seats out of the van which actually gives you a lot of room. 8)

Just want to keep your actual "truck" count accurate! I miss having one; we need to haul lots of drywall soon and it's a no go with our vehicles.

CNTRYCOWBOY
04-14-2005, 02:28 PM

I'm amazed at just how much you can get into a minivan! My folks and sister have one and you can easily fit furniture, bunches of boxes and more inside! :) That would be my suggestion - but it's Matt's call since he knows what he has better than I do...

mattadams
04-14-2005, 02:32 PM
ahh yeah I forgot that Dom had a rollbar now too, LOL. Doh! That's okt hough. We'll squeeze em in somewhere I'm sure.

Here is the map to the new spot, it'll be pretty easy, since we'll have full trucks we'll jsut take Wadsworth right from my complex up to 104th, right on 104th (which becomes Dover st.), then take your first right into the Warwick station complex, and then on the osuth side of the complex is building 12. That's where I'm at.

mattadams
04-18-2005, 07:36 AM
Well I'm open to suggestions, I just knwo that even if we take the interstate, I'm not going to be going very fast... last thing I want is to have my mattress come flying out of the bed on I-25 LOL.
But either way, doesn't really matter to me, I just hope we can get everything (or most everything, at least the big stuff) in one trip...

Up2myLbowsNmud
04-18-2005, 07:56 AM
I think your stuff will be fine to go interstate, you can go slow with your mattresses and I can lead the way with a key for others that have just boxes...

...look at it this way, by the time you get there, everything else will already be all moved in... and possibly unpacked!

mattadams
04-18-2005, 08:13 AM
there you go, great solution babe! :)
I can go slow with the mattresses (since they have a higher probability of flying out then say, couches do) and everyone else can speed up there :).

UrbanCowboy
04-18-2005, 08:23 AM
Isn't that what ropes and such are for? I'm not trying to cause problems, I'm just confused. I've never had a problem transporting a matress on theh highway, but then again I have a longbed with plenty of room.

mattadams
04-18-2005, 08:26 AM
Yeah I've got ropes and straps, but I've also only got about 4' of bed space plus tailgate for a 7' bed. LOL. When I was moving Amy's (Chris's girlfriend) bed (same size as mine) we got it strapped down pretty good, but when I hit some bumps and stuff it'd still jump around a bit. Not enough where I figured it'd jump out of the bed, but enough where I'd rather go slow and avoid the possibility, LOL.
