No, its not the amount of t-shirt pre-orders, so far I've only received a few. But it is pretty cool.
Thanks to a pretty sizeable donation from a member of RMFTC (they didn't say I could say who it was, so I won't, they are more then welcome to take credit though, credit is deserved!) the site expenses for the year are pretty much covered. That means the web hosting, domain registrations, etc. are "bought and paid for".
What that means is at this point, all shirts pre-ordered and purchased, every bit over the actual cost of the shirts, will be able to be donated as a charitable contribution to MaxFund. Now, that amount depends greatly on the amount of shirts pre-ordered, because quantity determines price on the shirts. Just as a reminder, the shirts are here: http://rmftc.com/shop/
Now to the "dollars and cents". If we get about 50 shirts ordered (long stretch I know, but lets shoot for that goal) I will get them for about $7-8 each, by the time set up fees, sales tax, etc. are taken into account. Since I'm charging $16 (wasn't sure how much quantity was going ot be and it's easier to err on the side of too much money rather then not enough), that means we would be able to donate about $8 per shirt to an organization that could REALLY use the money. Assuming 50 shirts were sold, we're talking about $400 in an AWESOME donation. Some of that money would be used to over-order the quantity a bit so I could have some on hand for future sales, but when future shirts were sold the money would be put in the maxfund account. Now, assuming 25 shirts were sold, the cost would be more like $10-11 each, which means about $5 from each shirt could be donated, which would still be $125. not too shabby! But you can see what a difference a few shirts would make.
now tell me thats not awesome!
The same goes for hats, stickers, etc. not just shirts (just trying to push shirts right now because quantity equals lower price which equals more donation!), basically every dollar over what I pay for the item, will be donated. I know it will help a lot of animals that can really benefit from it.
Not only that, but the more shirts people wear, the more potential members we'll be able to recruit, the more they'll buy things, and the more we'll be able to donate even more!
So, get to ordering those shirts!!! http://www.rmftc.com/shop/
For those that have been living under a rock for a while, MaxFund is a no-kill shelter in Denver, that helps a lot of great cats and dogs recover from injuries, sicknesses, etc. and find them great homes. They also provide low-cost veterinary services for low-income households. You can find more info at: http://www.maxfund.org
Because I am an honest guy, if anyone doubts this money will indeed be donated I'd be happy to show them the "books", I'll probably even chip in some of my own money to make it happen.
