Hey Warrlord, we should start planning the next chinaman's run now. It would give everyone time to plan for it. Kristen and I are planning Moab the 25- 27 of March and New Orleans in June, so between those dates would be great(May was a good time, nice weather) let me know, I should have the 8.8 in, in a few weeks from now. The rest of you don't let the pics we posted spook you, it's really not that bad of a run......... 8)

Yeah, I'd like to do it in May. What would everyone think of having it on Memorial weekend? Three day weekend (for most of us) that way. If so, we'll have to start making reservations for campgrounds or motels now. If Memorial weekend doesn't work out for everyone, maybe the weekend or two before?

I do know of a good place to camp that's a couple miles away. It's National Forest land, free camping, right off the highway. However, there's no facilities. We've camped there before. A very large area. Plus, there's lots of area to ride dirt bikes & atv's. But this camping area might get too many people on the holiday weekend so we should probably do it the weekend or two before. I don't really wanna stay at the KOA again. The road leading into this area is in good shape, you can bring a camper if you have one & it won't get beat up by the road.

Let's hear some ideas on the dates everyone wants so I get this going & written in stone. Hey Matt, can I use RMFTC.COM name as the club/site hosting this event? If so, I'll make a seperate thread announcing the event with the details & link it on other sites. Might get a few more members out of it too. Last year was a pretty decent turnout especially considering it was my first attempt at organizing an event like this. I will be posting it on TRS, Serious Explorations, BroncoII.org, Traildamage, etc.

This will be great time. Even if you don't wanna wheel Chinamans Gulch but wanna go to this event, there's always a chance to ride along with someone on the trail run.

Warrlord, feel free to use the site name in publicizing the event. The more the name gets out there, the better! As far as memorial day weekend, not really sure yet myself, but I can't wheel it myself anyways. But I'd be up for camping or whatever.

If I had something a bit shorter, I'd love to do this trail. I think I'd be fine other than the rocks coming in, and going out.

I'm in. Give me a date and I will be there.

I'm kinda leaning towards The weekend of May 14 or May 21. If we did it on Memorial weekend, there would be everyone & their brothers out there on the trail & the camping spots would be crowded.

I'd kinda like the weekend of the 14th personally. Would that work for those who wanna go to this event?

**Walking Eagle, this trail will not be above your ability at all. There is the possibility of some rock rash on vehicles though (C'mon Matt, time to break the cherry on your truck   Nah, just kidding, if my paint was that nice, I sure wouldn't take it on that trail) I do a bunch of "spotting" for folks & after my course in "Rock Stacking 101" most damage can be avoided. (bring gloves) A locker or tight limited slip are a plus but not absolutely necessary.

Please everyone that's going, check your u-joints before hand. Last May, a guy broke a u-joint on the trail that was worn to begin with. If it was in good shape before the run, it never would have broke on the trail. By the way, I carry a pretty decent tool set on trail runs incase something goes wrong.

The 14 of May sounds good to me Larry, I should just about have everything fixed by then  Kristen said she would even rent a cabin at the KOA this year, so we wouldn't have to stay in town............

I think the 14th would be good. How many people are you talking about for this thing Warlord? If it's going to be a ton of rigs, it's just like going to a crowded campground.

If I do this, the 14th works for me. I'll most likely go anyways and make an on site decision if I give it a try.

:D Alrighty then............The 14th it is! :D I'll get my ducks in a row with trail links, directions & such & then make a post here that I will link from the other 4x4 sites I belong to. Using RMFTC.COM as the host site for this run.

Urban, Last year, by posting the trip on 4 sites, there were 11 wheelers that showed up, one from Utah. It shouldn't be too crowded at the campgrounds, not everyone camps, some stayed in motels in Buena Vista but hung out & bbq'd with us at the camp site, sat around the campfire & sucked back some suds & a lot of bs-ing, it was a whole buncha fun. This campsite I'm choosing is not one you pay for that only allows a certain # of people & vehicles per site. It's National Forest land (unimproved camping). The area has waaaaaaaay more space than we'll need.

I'll be shagging the 13th off from work to get there in the late morning for anyone that wants to get there before it gets dark.

Give me a day or two & I'll get it all posted. :headbang: :bounce:
