So, i dropped off an application, for a different position with the county...a full time, year round one...with buildings and grounds. Called yesterday,, to make sure they got it, and they did. I was told id be called by the 28th, to set up an interview. They called today, and set it up for tomorrow, at 1pm....and the guy interviewing me owns a newer superduty, PSD, and i met him while he was replacing some sheet metal on his truck, and i was putting my newer tires on...Hopefully I get this job, then no more worryin about what to do during the off season of my current seasonal gig...

Kick ass, i just got home....the position was for "maintenence worker" for buildings and grounds...I go in, and in the interview, he started asking me about billing, administrative shit, being a foreman, and things like that ive never done...this is the description that was in the paper"
"POSITION DUTIES: Responsibilities shift seasonally: A winter 3 AM and weekend snow removal shift and regular landscaping/grounds maintenance shift. Applicant should know how to operate both light and heavy equipment, such as a loader. Applicant must be able to perform strenuous physical labor. "
"MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be dependable, self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision. Must be available for 3 AM and weekend operations, possess a valid Colorado driver's license and phone. Must have experience in landscape maintenance and snow removal. CDL license a plus. "
Yeah, guess i missed the whole "Admin-budgeting-foreman" vibe of the job from that description somehow....
woohoo....
just another rant..

man, anytime they ask if you can do something, and you don't know how, don't tell them no directly, say "its not something I have experience in, but I'd love to learn!" :)

lol, were you there, hiding in a corner or something...i swear, everyother line i said was "I havent done it before, I have no work experience doing it, but doing paperwork, and budgeting money is something i do everyday for myself, and I know i can learn how to do it, and do it great, at work." or something like that.

Glass, sorry to hear that, but happy to hear that too. If you made it to the second round, thats usually a good thing :). Good luck! Remember, confidence, but not over-confidence. Anecdotes are a winner as long as they aren't overdone, and be professional but not uptight! That's the only advice I can give.
