So on Sunday went and watched the Broncos loose to the Colts at Champps sports grill. We all entered our name in a contest to win free shirts, etc. with a "grand prize" of some leather recliners. I didn't have chance to really check them out that much, because I never win anything so I wasn't really thinking about it that much. But they looked pretty nice.
So I get a call that I am one of approximately 20-30 "semi-finalists" for the couches, and they are going to draw for the winner on the 23rd at 6:30pm, so wish me luck! :)

It sounds like you'll be selling the couches then? Good luck on that part!
Wow, we're quite the "winners" lately, man! :D I won a Budweiser shirt at Champps during that visit, you're in the running for the chairs/sofas (which were they? lol) and then we win 1st and 2nd place at poker! WOO HOO... Too bad the Broncos didn't get any of our luck!

Was that an attempt to capture post # 9000 for the site Cory..lol...If it was, i think you got it, and if it wasnt....im probobally just mad cause by the time i found a post to try n get #9000 for, it was post 9002..I just realized how ironic it is to be writing a post about free furniture, while sitting in a chair i got for free out of a trash pile...wierd...

I don't think it's considered 'winning' if you get it out of a trash pile.
But good luck Matt, maybe you should have Cory hang out with you while they're doing the drawing. Maybe his luck will wear off on you.

LOL Hey nothing wrong with finding stuff in the trash! Ask Courtney! I gave her a present I found in the dumpster at my complex and proudly told her I found it in the dumpster (it was right on top, I was walking by... I wasn't dumpster diving LOL), and while taking that out of the dumpster, found several nice rolls of wrapping paper which I also "seized"... and many people this christmas got presents that wrapped in paper I found in the trash! :).
That's sad, I normally don't notice post count much, but I saw we were over 9000 now, and I have over 2000 of those, LOL.
I never said there was anything wrong with it, just that it wasn't considered winning.

Ohh, its deffinently not winning...unless someone else had thier eye on it, and lost out.....which, in some way would be winning, since someone else lost out on it....I once found an oil painting, about 5 feet tall, by 8 feet wide, of a boat in a pond....and hung it in my old apartment above my fireplace...but it was on a curb, next to a garbage can...
The drawing isnt one of those things where you show up for the drawing, at the place that put it in the raffle....Get asked to do a survey, asked to sign up for a "prefered buyers" card, then told that youre all winners if you spend $5000 on accessories to go with the couch, and then get the couch free? Or is it pretty straight up?

My tailgate came from a dumpster. A little TLC and new paint and it's nicer than my old one.

Glass, its pretty straight up. I believe the furniture was donated by some furniture company,t hough I'll have to stop by and check.
The way it was explained was they have about 20-30 finalists, and they'll just draw that day, nothing else to sign up for and they dont even have my email address LOL. Apparently some other non-couch winners get certain amount bar tabs as prizes, etc.
Anyone looking to dumpster dive would have a hayday at my apartment complex. There is constantly cool stuff that I think "man if I had the space or the ability to fix that up". THere was a 30" Sony TV out at the dumpster a few weeks ago. I doubt it worked, but holy crap! Also regularly see speakers, couches (sometimes nice ones!) bookshelves, desks, etc. People are always throwin out crap. I think I've seen more lamps then I can count, LOL.
A guy can never have too many speakers.

It wasent a present, it was more like a "hey this was in the dumpster, want it?"
nonetheless, it was cool...
