Ideally i am looking to buy a wrecked mid to early 80's ford truck, with a 351W. I plan on swapping in a 351W in place of an inline 6 in on of my rigs. So i would like to try and snag the whole vehicle as it'll have the brackets and emission stuff for that motor already and save me some money(not much but some) on the swap. I would prefer a carb'd 351W for simplicity reasons of the swap, but would take an efi model as well. If anyone has some leads please let me know. I would like to try and get the rig for under 1k.
Thanks,
Chris

Not sure how late they kept the straight axle, but if you find an F 250 or so with good running gear I might be interested in buying the rest of the truck from you after you take the engine and whatever else you need out of it. I'm needing diffs, transfer case, ect, ect, ect. It could help offset your costs and save me money and junk yard roaming time as well.

Nope, the 77 already has a 400 in it. I guess i'll let the cat out on this one. I am planning on putting the 351 Windsor in a 84 yota land cruiser. I plan on stroking the 351 to a 408, and running Cleavland heads to make a 408 Clover. This is my "off road" project for the summer. I have changed directions with the 77 and it is headed towards restoration, and the land cruiser towards off road abuse.

Keep in mind if you plan on having it plated for the street you might need to get it inspected at a state emission technical center and have a dr2365 form filled out and show every time you get emissions. This form is more or less for engine swaps and what not so the emissions place will know how to emission the vehicle. Its a pain in the ass.
On that note, I would go EFI and not dick with a carb setup as to if you need emissions it will be much easier to pass then screwing with a carb setup. Keep it pre-OBDII (95 and older or EEC-IV) and life will be easy for wiring, etc. :twocents:

EDIT-Early Ford fuel injection is very easy. It can run on only a few wires. There are lots of write-ups online on how to hook it up, very simple. If you can install a car stereo you should be able to get the fuel injection working. LOL And if I remember right, the state will not allow a older engine in a newer car, only a newer engine in a older car. They have some picky guide lines... You might want to look into it more before spending a grand to be stuck with a vehicle that won't work, etc.

Here is a couple for you to check out, both under a grand.

This one below sounds like it needs a front pump seal on the tranny...

Happy Hunting! :D

Thanks for the links and the info! The good news is that the 84 LC is carbed, so i could run a carbed motor in it, without too many issues. I was told that i have to meet the 84 emissions standards for the motor i swapped in(read as 84 or newer motor as far as they know). I can realistically use any 80's or newer motor, as i there isn't much emissions equipment on a 84. I am going to look into the form though and thanks for all the info!

you'll need a 79 or older Ray. I will keep my eyes out for one. Seems to be a lot of Dentsides up here.
