Alright Colorado Springs guys. Sounds like theres a few of you now that all sound like you'll be willing ot make it to a meet. So lets get started on organizing something! I'm sure I can make the treck no worries, but I dont know about restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, etc. there so you'll have to help me out a bit.

Be glad to. Let me know what you need. :)

I just did... :)
Where are some good places to hang out? Some place that can accomodate a few folks, has decent parking, doesn't mind if we hang out and b.s. for a while and, most importantly, fits in with most of our "broke" budgets. LOL.

Warrlord

fits in with most of our "broke" budgets. LOL.

Short Stop

There's the regular kinda places like Red Robin, Chilis, Bennigans, Village Inn, Ruby's Diner, Gunther Toodys, etc. I don't know anyone that works at anyplace like those but I'll stop by & talk to the managers about it when we get an idea of "when".

There's a decently priced Italian joint called Bambinos (locally owned) with a back room that can be reserved for groups.

Bambinos with a back room? I'm scared.

All of the places that I went to when I was living down there were a little pricy, so I can't help out too much Matt. There was a philly cheesesteak place of a Nevada Ave. that was good, but the parking is slim.

12-31-2004, 08:46 PM
One of my favs is a Mexican joint called Salsa Brava... but they have lousy hours, lol But I'll think and see what I can come up with.

01-01-2005, 11:18 PM
Buka de bepo or Bambinos or the loop in manitou many more I am having a brain fart.

mattadams
01-02-2005, 09:18 AM
I'm cool with whatever, as long as its on the budget side of things. I don't want anyone saying they can't go because its too expensive is the thing.

Mind_Boggler
01-03-2005, 04:09 PM
OK, I've done a little thinking, and the best place in my opinion would be Three Martgaritas. It's a Mexican food place that's pretty affordable, and the food comes in big portions(always a plus in my book! lol). Anyway, that's my input, but I'm open to whatever.

mattadams
01-03-2005, 05:58 PM
I'm alright with whatever. How about you guys pick a time and a date, and we'll make it happen! As much as I like to plan events for other cities and so forth, might be cool to entrust the Colorado Springs group with that power... :)

dannan_w
01-03-2005, 07:23 PM
i am down for 3 margs. i love their food. i like weekends. pick the time and i will be there.

Mind_Boggler

Well, I hardly ever work weekends, and it's even more rare for me to work nights, so pretty much whenever will work for me!

dannan_w

how about the 15th of Jan? at 3 Margs or the loop in manitou?

Mind_Boggler
01-05-2005, 02:20 PM
Welp, the 15th would work for me, but I'm just wondering if that is enough notice for everyone? Maybe a little closer to month's end? Like I said, it would work for me, but some members may need more notice to schedule it.

CNTRYCOWBOY

There is 2, 3 margs in the springs. North or south?

We ought to do the north one so the northern folks don't have to take the scenic route through town all the way down Academy Blvd. Sound okay?

dannan_w

sounds good to me. but i am not to good with streets on the north side. so i will need dir. but i will be there.

Warrlord
01-06-2005, 07:28 PM
Here's some directions coming from Denver,

(This might sound confusing but once you see it, you'll know what to do)

From I25, Take the Academy Blvd exit then turn left (south) on Academy. Might as well stay in the left hand lane. Keep going about 2-3 miles. When you see Dublin Blvd you'll know you're getting close. about a 1/4 mile after Dublin, you'll see 3 Margs on the left........but you can't turn there because of the median. You'll need keep going to turn left or do a U-turn at the next light which is Lehman Dr. It would be safer to just turn left at Lehman Dr & then turn around in the 7-11 parking lot that's there on the corner. Then get back to Academy & turn right (north). 3 Margs is located on the corner of Academy Blvd & Dominion Way.

What time is this shindig?

If I made the directions sound too screwy, let me know, I'll try to clear it up.

dannan_w
01-06-2005, 09:52 PM

CNTRYCOWBOY
01-06-2005, 11:44 PM
Not to change the location, but isn't there a 3 margaritas right off of I-25 around garden of the gods? I didn't know if that would easier or closer?

clavos
01-08-2005, 11:45 AM
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but most medians won't prevent me from making a turn. LOL...

mattadams
01-08-2005, 11:55 AM

So I get the e-mail and I figured It was high time to crawl out from under my rock for a bit :P

Anyway, The 16th at 6:00-6:30 ....Hmm....I'll have to mark my calander and pray to whatever that nothing comes up. I wanted to do the meet up on 120th and Colorado-ish (I think that's where it was), but I got stuck helping my friend Amy take care of her 1 month old (at the time) baby, which I didn't mind because I want to be a father myself someday, and it'll make good practice., but still, I was bummed that I couldn't go :(

Oh, and I'm probably being promoted to an Automatic Tranny Tech at Dodge here pretty soon...looking forward to that....It's going to be extremely difficult to learn everything as far as diagnostics, mechanically, and especially electronically, but I think It'll be worth it...

Anyhoo, I'll keep you all posted on whether I can make it or not. Ta ta for now

01-11-2005, 08:13 AM
A meet in the Springs??? wow, what a change of plans. I pretty much feel off the face of the earth with the club since I am just not bale to get up to Denver for the meets you all have. That would be cool to have one down here. I see that you all are thinking about having it on the 16th around 6:00-6:30. The only problem that I might have with that time is that I am suppose to drop off my little girl with my ex-wife at 5:45 on Sunday's and that kind of falls pretty close to that. But she lives on the East side of town and if you all are talking about the 3 Marg. on Academy it might take me a little longer to get up there.

mattadams
01-11-2005, 08:24 AM
Snowman, glad to see your still around! Sounds like we got a good potential group of members growing in the Springs area so hopefully meets down there will become a more regular thing. I'm sure we'll be there for a while so even if your a few minutes late, don't stress it.
By the way, would anyone in the Springs area like to volunteer to call the 3 margaritas ahead of time, and let them know that we are coming? I doubt they do reservations or anything, but might be a good idea to just let them know that we are coming.

Devildog34

The address is:
3 Margaritas
6385 N Academy Blvd
Colorado Springs, CO 80918 - 8304
(719) 532-1743

They do take reservations for large groups. If someone would tell me how many I'll make them for you. I'm still not confirmed but it is a Sunday and that's usually one of my down nights.

I just got off the phone with them and the person I spoke to didn't speak english. I guess that means its authentic. I'll call back if needed when someone can give me a count. tks

well, its looking like im out unless my bronco is ready saturday. turns out initially they found that the tie rod ends were messed up, so they replaced those. well the initial probelm i was having was still there(horrible rubbing sound). so they checked the rear end, and while checking the differential oil found shards of metal in it. wonderful, just wonderful. The good: all the front end work is free. the bad: rear end work is gonna run me around $1600, and i *might* get my bronco back saturday. if i do, ill probably make my way to the meetup. if not, well i wont be there. bad times =(

Hey rino, I know how to do that kind of work. (since I do it for a living) But I have plans with my wife until about 1:00 Sunday that I can't get out of (sorry, can't piss of the ole lady, I get in enough hot water as it is). If you have any questions about the setup please call me. 719-330-9302 on my cell. I'll have it with me. I'll try & be as much help as I can be over the phone. It's just a matter of shimming the side bearings & setting the backlash to obtain a proper pattern.

If I get back early, I can run up to Castle Rock & help ya out.........No Strings Attached :D  Although all my tools & shims are at work  I'll try & do the best I can for ya.

Hey warrlord, you install gears for a living? I've got a set of 4.56 gears I need installed.

I do 1-3 diffs a week at work. Mostly the front diffs in half ton GMC's & Chevy's, because they eat up side bearings all the time. I've been a GM wrench since '88, from '82 to '88 I was a Ford wrench. I've helped many friends replace gears in their trucks. I'll be glad to help out the members here too. It's always good when you can improve your truck in some way.

Do you have the Sterling or 8.8 in the rear? I have extra shims for the 8.8 but not the Sterling. No biggie if you get a master install kit. We can yak about it tonight. See ya there!
