View Full Version : Summer Movies - Which Ones Will You See?
It's officially Summer Movie Season. What movie(s) are you excited about and why?
My #1 has to be "The Village" - a creepy M. Night Shyamalan film (for those living under a rock, he wrote/directed The Sixth Sense and Signs) with another of his trademark twist endings.
I'm also interested in seeing: I, Robot; Envy; Spiderman 2; Exorcist: The Beginning; Resident Evil - Apocalypse; Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow; Harry Potter 3; and maybe Alien vs. Predator
What's in your list...?

Thats why your the director of media relations! Now get us on the news! LOL.
The Village also looks good. Shamylan does some awesome stuff. Not sure about that I, Robot... looks kinda hokie.
Oh you'll see it! LOL And it's got that nice futuristic Audi in it... :D

I think the last movie I saw in the theater was Saving Private Ryan. I'm not big on paying movie prices at theaters. 90% of the movies I find very disappointing.
Okay, that was the last movie you saw in a theatre - but what was the last movie you saw??? ;) And please tell me it wasn't "Torque..." :D

I've not heard of "Torque". I do see most movies when they finally make their way to one of the premium channels such as HBO, Starz, etc. The last movie I saw, I believe it was this past Monday night was "Black Cadillac". It was supposed to be a horror, but was lacking in suspense.
Consider yourself lucky that haven't heard of - nor seen - "Torque." :D It makes "The Fast and the Furious" look like the most intelligent film ever made...

We're hoping to see HP III tomorrow night at the late show... Then we're looking forward to The Villiage and Spiderman II

I'm with Jeff on this one, I'd rather watch movies in the comfort of my own home. I can't remeber what its called, but there is a documentary coming out about George W that could be interesting.

I usually check out the History, International History, Discovery Science, Discovery Times, and Wings channels then I'll see what movies are on.
I did notice X-men 2 is coming on tomorrow night on one of the premium channels and I will watch it. I liked the first one.

I watched X-Men 2. I thought it was good, but something was missing. For a 2 hour movie, it seemed the movie was building up to a big finish when they were headed back to Washington at the end. All they did was give the President a pep talk before he speaks to the nation.

I know what you mean about watching the dollars. I've been pinching pennies for a few weeks.
I recently saw "Super Size Me" - the documentary about fast food in America. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys documentaries or has wondered why America keeps getting fatter and fatter. It was funny, fair, insightful and one of the best docs I've ever seen (better than that Michael Moore crap). If you don't want to pay theatre prices to see it now (understandable), it should probably be on DVD by fall.

Dodgeball looks funny, indeed. I used to hate Ben Stiller but the more movies I see of his the more I like him... I think I was just soured by Something about Mary and Meet the parents.

Last night I saw the final Lord of the Rings. I don't see the big deal about the series. The series could have been cut in half in length. Also, throughout the series I had a problem with the sound. The volume was real low when two characters were talking, and during the action scenes it was loud. I was constantly adjusting the volume level. I will never see these movies again, because it's not worth the 3 hours for each one.

I saw "the terminal" on Friday... I really enjoyed it. I think Tom Hanks did a great job of portraying a person who could barely speak English and was able to "adapt" to live in an airport... I give it a thumbs up :).
Courtney didn't really care for it,s aid it moved too slow and so forth, but I thought it was good.
Also, throughout the series I had a problem with the sound. The volume was real low when two characters were talking, and during the action scenes it was loud. I was constantly adjusting the volume level.
Does your DVD player have a "sound compression" feature? That will smooth out the loud/soft passages and bring things to a happy medium - volumewise. I didn't notice that problem when I watched the series on DVD and I'm pretty in tune with sound since it's a big part of my profession; perhaps that's the difference?
Otherwise, I agree. While the series was visually stunning, featured good FX and the acting was okay, it was waaaaay to long (especially #3 with the "fake endings!") and at times boring. Oh well, at least the LOTR fans seemed to enjoy it...
I guess the next movie I'm looking forward to is Spider-Man 2. Should be entertaining... :)

I'll have to look into my entertainment system's features about the sound compression.
