Alright, I haven't even had an oil change since the transmission went out, and now it's gone again. This is really pissing me off. This time, it died on me on the trail. I was wheelin with a buddy of mine with a 85 yota, and I had to do basically the whole run in his truck. I'm really considering selling this and getting something else that doesn't break down all the time like a T*#$%a or J@#p or something like that.
A Ford truck wouldn't be bad either

I used to drive a wrecker, and I kinda learned that Explorers are notorious for crappy trannies. Some of them have the same tranny as the Taurus(which is horrible). Although that is still no excuse for it to go out that quickly!

What would it take to convert it to a 5 spd?

I'm not quite sure. I've been researching for a while about it.

I think switching from auto to manual would be a lot more then you'd be wanting to do. You'd pretty much be better off buying a manual vehicle and moving your mods over to that one. You'd have to get a new computer, adapters, punch holes through the floor, yada yada. But thats just my opinion. I've never actually researched it.

well, my dad and I are going to take it to the same guy AGAIN, and see what he has to say for himself. It is a possibility that we get it rebuilt AGAIN, then sell it, with a descent transmission. But, the last time he rebuilt it, it was all warranty work, so I don't think he really cared about what the hell he was doing. He better get it right this time.
I'm looking at getting a 96 Bronco if this whole ordeal doesn't work out.
Oh, and golfmore, Iwill let you know if I end up selling it.

Mind making us aware of who the transmission guy is.....just so we can make mental notes and stay away from him?
I know i would appreciate it.

Parker Tranmissions
Just towed the damn thing over there, and they are supposedly going to fix it, but I have my doubts that it will last.
