I'm considering making a dedicated junkyard cart to carry tools and parts on for trips to pull n save, Western Auto ect.
These are on sale for $69

So my idea was to buy this cart, bolt an old tool box to the front and fill it with cheap, harbor freight tools. Nothing spectactular, just wrenches, sockets, ect. the stuff you have to lug around when walking the junk yards. The cart would also be perfect for carrying out parts instead of having to lug everything back out. Just load up the tools in the tool box, put the parts on the back of the cart and pull it up to the cash register.
My question is this:
Do you think this would be allowed at the junk yards?
I think I've seen this type of setup before but don't remember and sometimes there can be odd rules as to what can and can't be taken in.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has seen someone using something like this or seen anyone kicked out for trying to bring one in.
Thanks.

Best thing to do is call ahead .last time I went to pull-n-save ;what You are decsribing is exactly what they have that You can borrow from them they also have wheel barrows and other carts for heaver items .I personally dont know if they will let you bring your own I have seen some yards that let people through with little red wagons to My kno0ledge the things that they wont let you have are jacks or jackstands ,some power tools and torches of anykind I seem to recall one yard years ago that didn't alow cigerette lighters and even tried serching people for them but they quickly found out it was against the law for private employees to search people only officers of the court and on duty police officers are alloud to serch citizens

If I knew how to photo shop I would make your new wagon look really cool with some wood slats on the sides with "Rays tool Cart" burnt into the wood with my harbor freight wood burning kit, and then maybe one of them small kegs from the harbor freight home brewery kit up front, to help you lube up the joints on them hot days in the scrap yard. Maybe a small shelf to store the PB blaster and rags for them rusty parts...

I've used a wagon like that for the pick-n-pull. I like it better than the wheelbarrow for moving tools.

First: Yes, you can take your own cart in the self service yards.
I've taken my two wheel dolly through western before they bought wheelbarrels. It carried my toolbox just fine, but made hauling parts tricky. When I was done, it sure was easy to load the dolly in the vehicle, even with mud on the tires. Maby you should buy or build a small trailer to wheel your tool cart around. :)

^what he said. I carry some bungees and I am able to get most stuff to attach reasonably well. obviously things like doors and bumpers are tricky, but that what you use the yard's carts for. Some yards also have a dude in a truck that will come get it and bring it to the checkout for you, but you have to find him first lol.
