No I have not yet fixed my speedometer. I've been meaning to do the custom superchip, but been too low on funds.
Not the mental picture I needed.

Tray, why do you ask?

He asked because he wanted to see you in a banana hammock man...
Just curious about what method you may have used if you'd already done so.
I've been tempted to just go to the dealer and have them fix mine, as it looks like it'll be a while until I can get the programmer.

Tray,
When I had my lifted f-150 I went to the dealer to see if they would fix the speedo for me. They said that they couldn't fix it. It was courtesy ford so that could be why they didn't fix it, they just didn't want too. If you have a scanner which i think Matt does, you can have the scanner program the wheel sizes and the computer will change the speedo. But that all depends if the speedo is computer driven or gear driven.
I am sure some of the dealers wouldn't do it, but I'm sure one of them will. I also know there is some sort of limitation to what they can do as well. I think that anything over 33s or 35s are not able to be accepted due to the revolutions per mile calculations.
I know you can do it with a programmer, but for the $300+ they cost it'll be a while until I have one in my truck. With that, you can only use it on one truck, so even if Matt had one, I doubt he'd want it's capabilities used on my truck, rather than his.
I could also change out the gears to get the same effect, but again $$$ comes into play, so it is looking like going to the stealership is my best option.

I don't have a programmer, but if I did I'd gladly help you Tray :).
I have two code heckers, the scan gauge and one on my laptop, but neither do reprogramming.
Well, I tried to do it with a MODIS, and even that couldn't change the settings.
My only options look like a Hypertech PPIII, a SuperChips MicroTuner, or to see if the stealership can/will do it.
If it weren't so scary, I'd try to write my own program for it, but the last thing I need to do is ruin my PCM or something.

Tray, you don't have to get a superchip programmer, you can have a superchip programmed witht he tire change, I think its a little cheaper and gives you some performance gains as well. As I recall, the chip I was looking at was a 4-stage chip, all with custom programming for different levels of power/fuel consumption. For example, you can have the speedo change show up on all 4-levels, and then you can have one level be using standard gas, not much power change, one for towing, one for better performance, and one for balls-to-the wall, drag racing, needing premium fuel to avoid pinging type performance. I'm sorry I don't recall how much it was, about $350 I think. Too broke too afford it though.
Well for that, I'd rather go with the programmer. I could then choose those same types of options, as well as having the ability to change tire sizes again (when future plans come to fruition).
I've found programmers for sale on the net for just under $300 with shipping, so I think I'll keep saving for that.
I was just thinking a trip to the 'ship would be about $50, rather than $300.
