I posted a few pics of engine bays the one with the air conditioning is a 87 the other is an 88 but as You can see it has had it fair share of wiring issues it runs though so if You want specific pics of something let Me know I know the pics arn't very good or helpfull lOL Oh and another note the bunch of wiring on the drivers side on the 87 is a extra pigtale used when I tow it behind its just a rolled up trailer harness

i wish i would have gone that route too, it sucks always working outside, and only being able to store essential parts inside, but one day i'll have a garage haha

Well i ended up going with a 4.0l swap rather than the 5.0. I just picked up a 92 ford explorer. I plan on rebuilding the motor and transmission and getting it swapped in before the spring. Hopefully i will have the budget and time to work on two projects at once. But unlikely. I am also going to take the dana 35 and 8.8 and put 4.11 gears into them and a locked rear end(type of locker to be determined) and through them under the BII. I have also got all the BII parts i need cosmetically and misc i need off a 87 parts bronco i bought. pics to come tomorrow or thursday

So yesterday i got to drive to Colorado Springs with my friend and the gf It was the only time the people we bought our parts explorer where free to hand over the keys title and all the fun stuff that goes with buying a car. The weather sucked as you all know. It turned what was supposed to be a 4 hour trip into a 9 hour trip. Saw a few wrecks, pushed a few cars out of traffic. And i was really impressed with my friends driving. Lack a better vehicle yesterday we chose his 2005 f150. Good news was he had a tow package, bad news, 2 wheel drive. It made the drive that much more fun. Overall there were a few close calls on the trip but only one that really got the pucker factor going. But in the end we got home safely and the explorer made the final 6 mile journey to my friends shop. Parked it at the :princess:'s house last night do to time and weather. He's a few pics of the parts car we picked up and from driving around. most pics didn't turn out well because they were taken with a cell phone.

 Looks like you have all you'll need with that donor. Since you're gonna be changing out the diffs, use the Exploder leaf springs, they'll give ya more flex than the B2 springs.

What would i need to do in the rear end then. When the last person lifted it they used a block. I have a stock block, and was going to order the 4inch lift rear springs. Would id be fine to just leave the lift block and run the exploder springs over them?

Make it an SOA with the sploder leafs if you want great flex. That'll net you about 5" over stock height so you won't have to use the lift blocks. If all you is change out is the diff but you leave the B2 leaf springs in there, you'll have to use the blocks to keep it at it's current height.

Alright that sounds like a good route. I like it better than using blocks. Thanks for the help!

Did a little moving around at the girlfriends house today. I have came to the conclusion that her parents either like me, or dont hate me near as much as i thought they did. They are tolerating my gfs and mine endeavor with this bronco II build better than expected. We have now stock piled and moved everything around to where we should be getting a good start on it this week, or next weekend. Heres a couple pics of the re arranging we did, and just a collection of the parts. Its turned into one of those projects where is taking 3 vehicles to make one nice one. Should be a wonderful build and adventure with the :princess:

I was doing some reading and it was saying that the use of explorer springs on the bronco ii's offered little to no lift because of how they were mounted. i also have a 91 ranger with the 8.8 SOA and it only clears 30's. Is there something i am missing or miss read?

I'm glad you caught me on this :o

You are correct. For some reason, I had the idea of making the sploder an soa. Even though I knew you were transferring it to your B2, the lift it would give to a sploder was stuck in my head. Sorry about that. You will need those blocks to lift it or you could use those lift leafs you were talking about.

My bad, thanks for questioning me on it :)

Its all good. i was just checking because who knows i could of been missing something. i found out i can get 4 inch skyjacker springs for the rear for about 350 so i might go that route instead of blocks.

Has anyone here ever done the 4.0L swap? i believe i can handle the mechanical aspects of it just fine. However when it comes time to wire it all up i feel like i can not handle this on my own. I have read about it online on TRS but i am still having some doubts about my ability to do it. I am also going to use the original dash in the BII and i know that makes the wiring a little harder.

Managed to get some more work done. My friend managed to give me some help this weekend which made things a lot easier. Got the motor pulled, The transmission/transfer-case. As well as the 31 spline LSD 8.8, As well as the Dana 35. The red haired guy is my bud nick. I am still trying for a march 1st deadline, but it does not seem very likely at this point in time. Works been sucking up all my free time. But its till moving along so i have no complaints. I am still looking for the cord to my other camera for the rest of the pics

I was bored this last weekend, and waiting for parts and such, so i did some minor cosmetic work to the hood. The old hood was creased on the leading edge on the drivers side. So i took the hood off of my 87 donor, down to bare metal, fixed its few dents, and primered it all up.
