I'm lucky enough to only smoke a cigar or pipe on occasion, so I've got at least a few more years to stock up, but for you cigarette smokers, its getting tougher.
Beat your kids? Sure, no problem, thats your business
Serial killer? We don't need all those drifters anyway!
Rapist? Ah hell, she was asking for it!
Smoker? Oh my god! Kill em!

I"m telling you... One more stupid law like this and I'm gonna find a tabacco farm and steal a couple plants for growing at home...

I figure, the biggest problem people seem to have with cigarettes is the second-hand smoke issue. OK, I can see that. But how many of these people also want to legalize marijuana? That has smoke, too. And, while it may not contain nicotine, it can still cause lung problems and cancer, as any kind of smoke can.

Just something to ponder. If they do legalize maijuana, don't expect it to be in smoke form. You'll just be able to get the pills like my uncle is prescribed for his health issues. Which, by the way, he says are no where near as good as the real thing, nor does it help the pain as much.

Yeah! And the pills are really harsh and hard to light too! And they don't roll worth a damn! :)
Seriously, I'm one of those people that think legalization is a good idea. Think of all the tax money we're missing out on for something that is being used anyway!
Oh and you can buy tobacco seeds online. Its the curing process to get the 'baccy smokable that might give you problems.

I'm not sure if cigarette tobacco will age like pipe tobacco but it should. It'd be worth experimenting anyway.
Also, I can say from experience that cigarettes, like cigars, stored in a good quality humidor will last for years without going stale as long as the humidor is maintained properly.
I have a couple packs in my humidor that i keep in case a cigarette smoker shows up and wants one. The packs have been in there for about three years and are not affected at all. in fact they have improved according to the people that have tried them.
As for how long they will last, there are Pre-Embargo Cuban cigars that are every bit as good now as they were when they were first rolled. In fact, Cids Tobacco on 44th and Sheridan sells them. So in a good maintained environment, decades isn't at all unfeasable for storage of tobacco.
Just an fyi.
