Looking to do a mild off road trip with a buddy of mine that has a Dodge Durango with 32" tires and a locker in the rear. It will be his 2nd time wheeling so I am not looking for any thing hard core.

I was thinking some of the trails in Left Hand Canyon, I have never done any of them except for Carnage. So I do not know how difficult they are.

Or maybe Spring Creek (am Worried about the rock pile) or something in the Idaho Springs area.

I would like input on this and some of you all to join the the trip. He went with me his first time wheeling on a trip with this group to Eagle rock in the springs and really enjoyed it and the company. It prompted him to buy his Durango.

Thats a great idea. I have not done that trail in over 10 years. My brother in-law took a bone stock Bronco 2 with us. We all had a good time.

So lets make it Jenny Creek. I will announce a meeting time and place later.

Thanks:thumbsup:

Thanks:thumbsup:Jenny Creek is not for stockers this year.

Bill Moore should be easy enough, with a few obstacles he can learn from.

That will work, if you do not mind 2 extra trucks tagging along.

If that is okay let me know when and where to meet up.

Thanks
Ted

I don't care if a few others tag along as long as you drive a chevy LOL.

I'll post more info on meeting places and such soon

It ain't nothin', I've overbuilt to offset my lack of driving skillz and if you would, please pick-up anything that falls off I'd appreciate it.

I and my buddy are in no matter the conditions. We will be well prepared for the worst.
I have my winch and am keeping the 40's on the truck, with all my straps and such.

If you choose to go, be sure to dress properly it will be very cold.

Well, I got my new trac bar put in last night, man was that thing hammered.. It tightened the steering up so much I might not look like a drunk driving my truck anymore. LOL
The new/right shocks will be here later today, got to go pick them up tomorrow around lunch time.

I am cool with it as we talked about earlier being I have to work anyway. This has given me motivation to work on my truck for a change, especially with snow in the forecast. :)

So, are trail leaders out?
I need to know, and who all is going?

bronc_17113
10-08-2009, 08:56 AM
Im out the weather down here is nasty there is no way I am taking my daily driver which is also my wheeler at this point wheeling when there is a good chance I could mess it up sorry to anyone that is disapointed but my priority is in keeping my nice stuff nice in jan when I get my full time wheeler i will be more inclined to take some chances with my truck I know from experience how the easiest trail can be turned near impossible with a stock truck with small amounts of snow and ice. plus I wheel with my daughter and it is not supposed to get above freezing.

Do not worry about it Don. I just need to see where we are and who is still planning on going. If I did not have my big a** Ford I probably would not go either.

I did call my buddy and left him a message about you and others decision on not going. Told him to think about it and let me know he is still game. If chooses not to go I will also back out with him.

I will let every one know for sure when I hear back from him.

Hunter

My buddy just called me back and wants to go. So we are going no matter what.

If no one else is going we will probably go to Left Hand.

I've never been to left hand....how is it around this time of year...I looked at it on trail damage, but those ratings don't always seem right or up to date..

and ted where would you guys be heading out from? since I'm up north as well just wondering

Hunter
10-08-2009, 07:37 PM
We are meeting in Golden at Mimi's Cafe of off Colfax at 9am. We will either head up to our original meeting place or head to Left hand from there.

So far you are the only one to respond, if you rather go to Left Hand let me know.

I have not been up there since before they have closed Carnage. It has a play area with decent off cambers and hill climbs. There are also several off shoot trails. I have never been on any of them.

I've ran Lefthand during the summer...not during the winter. The first mile to 1.5 miles is easy. From there you will come up to the decent play area where you can get some good flex shots. From that area, there are 3 off shoot trails. I've ran the middle one when dry, and there were some pucker spots. Not anything real dangerous, just pucker due to tight squeezes near trees and risking body damage.

I have not ran it in a few years though, so a lot of stuff could have changed. There are definitely a few spots where ice would definitely cause sliding into trees.

The 5 points play area has been changed alot over summer, in may it still had the big crack in the middle now that is all fenced off.
