Sometime in Jan. or Feb. Me and the misses will be acquiring a 1990 Jeep Cherokee for $500. This is going to become our little project. If anyone wants to this will be a great time to practice any welding or painting or anything else I (we) can think of. I have several ideas for it allready. I want to do a 3-6" lift, cut off the back and make room for a spare tire. Any ideas are welcome. This is gonna be fun!

Sounds cool! I'll have to get that welding class set up, planning on doing it early-mid january sometime.
The price is definitely right.
Sounds like it could turn into an interesting little toy.

Does anybody know of a garage, or place with electricity and some lighting that I would be able to work on the jeep. I am willing to pay for space or something to the equlivant.
The only place I know of is up in Fort Collins, but last I heard they were shutting down.
I'm working on a similar deal for myself whenever I get around to deciding what I want to build up. My father-in-law is going to build a big outbuilding when they move back, and if I help him build it, I'm thinking he'll let me keep a project vehicle there.

I'm basically just looking for a place with some tools, ie. welder, air compressor, etc. I don't need to leave the vechicle there the entire time, hopefully nor more than a day or two.

I'd kick the lady's car out of the garage but I doubt you'd fit in after the lift. I know my truck can't.
Edit: After looking at your last post, I dont have a welder nor an air compressor.......yet
i'll chop that jeep gimme my saw

I looked closely at a cherokee tonight, and I am not going to be cutting the back off like previously stated. damn i was so excited about that part, but i have a lot of other ideas that involve junk yards and ingenuity! Cory I'll still let you cut some stuff

I was looking at a cherokee last night, and thought about the military hummers, with the slant, sloping back...that would look pretty good on a cherokee, with a whip antenna, and a big ole spare in the middle of the back slant..

Don't be cutting that bad boy up without reading up about how to put a cage in it first. They are unibody and as soon as you cut it, its like cutting part of the frame. It can be done, just go over to pirate4x4.com and SEARCH. :) Don't post unless you want to be flamed. :)
yup ,dont wanna get stuck in a truck thats bent in half
