Lets see. Last time I bought a tube of cookie dough it had a warning on the label that read: (I'm paraphrasing here)
"Made with raw eggs, you F#@%ing retard, don't eat it raw!"
I admit, I may not remember the warning word-for-word, but that was the basic concept.
So now, guess what? The aforementioned retards went around, happily munching away on tubes of raw cookie dough and: Surprise!!! Some got sick.
Does the cookie company issue a statement saying "Look, you idiots, it says right on the package not to eat the damn stuff raw, if you get sick its due to your own stupidity and frankly society would be better off without you clogging up the filters of the gene pool."
NOOOO.... Of course not! That would be truly offensive... Wait, I mean that would be TRUE and therefore would be labeled offensive.
So instead, they issue a recall and tell all of us sane people who understand the concept of an oven that we should throw away all our cookies.
Ugg Ugg! Cookies bad! Naughty! The cookie monster is being transfered to Gitmo even as we speak.
Do we really need to go THIS P.C.? where are we going to draw the line between personal responsibility and product negligence?
I'm all for recalls. If something is built with a flaw in the design or workmanship that poses a real threat I think that product should be recalled.
But a recall should only be brought about if the product can cause injury if its used in the manner it was intended!
Ok, as you all know, I could go on forever, but I'll spare everyone.
What are everyone elses thoughts on the great cookie recall of 09 and other solutions in search of a problem?
