I've been wanting a tattoo honoring my daughter for a long time now, but I'm picky! hehe I've finally gotten two favs but can't make up my mind between them.
The first one has the name, ZARIAH, in the wings, 3 letters on each wing. (Look close)
The 2nd has the name as the body.
Yes, they're both butterflies, they are my daughters fav animal. lol

I like the second pic, because the name is more obvious. The first one you'd really have to look to see what it is, and most people would just think you had a girly tattoo. The second one at least has some masculine qualities to it.

HAHA! Hadn't even thought of it that way! Good point. Although the first one also show it with no color, and without the color the name was much more obvious

I'm still open to options, especially if any of you are artistic at all. I just haven't liked any of the more typical things I've seen. Crosses, banners, etc...

It's not that its not masculine... it's just that... no... check that... I can't think of a good way to make a butterfly masculine. Ask any tattooed chick and I'd guarantee that at least 75% of them have at least one butterfly.

Whats more masculine than showing that you care for your daughter???
I would get the 2nd one Devin. The first one, the name is hard to see, and blends in too fucking much.
The second tattoo is the one to go with. dont blend your daughter into your tattoo 9your life) revolve your life around her ( in the center of the tattoo)/:thumbsup:
Who gives a shit if its a butterfly, its something that is symbolic, and is a representation of someone who means the world to you. If you need a good artist, and dont mind traveling to the north, i have a great recommendation of a tattoo artist!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thanks, I appreciate it. But I'm going to the same person that did my last one. They did a great job and it was reasonably priced. Hell, only thing wrong with it is a couple bad spots where I had apparently picked a the scabbing while I was sleeping. Had to be in my sleep, because I was damned careful of it any other time. LOL Besides, if I go back to them for my nest one, they'll give me free touching up of the old one. And even if I don't, they'll only charge me $5 for a touch-up.

All the tattoos i have had done, and all the tattoos my friends have had done by my friend johnny have never scabbed or peeled, and have never faded, or had a bad spot that required a touch up..... Hes the shit when it comes to tattoo art.

I know that the butterfly is "stereotypically girly" but I am thinking of getting one for my daughter. I REALLY like the 2nd one.

First one is kinda cool but the name does blend in too good. The second one is the way to go. and it is bad ass to know that your doing this for your daughter. It is a nice and...dare I say it...sweet thing to do.

It looks like I'm the lone voter for the first one so far. I like it for the reason that everyone else seems to not like it: Because the name isn't obvious. That lends the cool "oh yeah, there it is!" vibe to the tattoo.
I think getting a tattoo with your kids name is cool. However, I think getting a tattoo with your girlfriend/wife/favorite band/favorite actor/ect. is excessively tacky, and I have to admit that if I saw the tattoo with the name in the body, without knowing the rest of the story... I'd just assume you're a p#$$y-whipped guy whose lady made him get a chick tattoo with her name to mark her territory. (cause peeing on you doesn't last long enough if it rains or whatnot.) :)
However, if you got the first tattoo: Yes, its a "chick" tattoo, but it would be a cool conversation starter, rather than something most guys see on you and try not to stare at.
Someone (Most likely an outgoing, semi-hot chick and her friends) would say: "Oh, thats an... interesting tattoo for a guy."
Then you explain the tat and the name and they all do the collective "OHHH I see it!" and the following ever-present-chick-chatter.
Just my two cents. I think its a cool idea no matter which one you choose.

Ray Ray Ray.... LOL You have a knack for posting shit that make sme laugh! lol After all that, I'd be tempted to get both of them! After all, I do have 2 legs, right? But that might be pushing it, lol. One of them might well be good conversation starter for attractive women, lol. But both would prolly scare them off! Although, with the "hot" girls I've met, it might be good to have them scared off! It's amazing how an attractive woman can get so ugly if her personality stinks! Ever here the oldies song about being happy for the rest of your life? :D

I wonder how often people that work at tattoo shops think to themselves "this person is nuts"

LMAO, I'm sure it's a daily thought for them, Matt. Although I'd be willing to bet that it's a thought more common with peircings.

Here's what you oughtta do... go to your tattoo artist, or someone elses tattoo artist, or whatever, and tell them approximately what you are looking for and ask them to get creative... I know fromt alking to the guy that did my portrait, he said he'd much prefer it if someone did that then just come in with something they'd drawna nd be asked to duplicate it, when it isn't that good :). Many tattoo people aren't just good at putting ink to skin, they are truly artists and to see some of the stuff they cane come up with, you'll be amazed.
