I am seriuosly considering racing my dirtbike at the next 100 offroad race out at CORE. Anyone want to pit crew for me? It's May 31st and I need to find out more info but I want to do it real bad.
http://www.coloradooffroadextreme.com/
It's a 100 mile desert style race. I ran a teat day out there with my now sold baja bike and ran 100 miles wide open and I think it would be real fun on my CR250R. I have it setup for that kind of terrain so I should be able to go pretty fast.

Should have asked Me to tag along I still have My KLR600 as back up and I got my YZ built for the track it still needs some minor tweeking and a set of tires so I take the KLR just in case the YZ breaks .
I wanted to go to the track really bad today .I went last sunday the riding was perfect .and the bike road great except the front forks are a little too stiff I think I need to take out some oil and reduce the air some .I stayed at home in My Garage this weekend and swapped out My flywheel in the 84 BII it really sounds sweet just need to finish the shift boot and check the fluids and hook up some vent line and change a exaust gasket and bolt up the skid plate .
Hows about a little practice run next week? either Core or The other track i go to its alittle closer right off I-70 lots fo jumps and tight turns

Night rides are cool on a motorcycle through the forest in the middle of the summer when its hot and not after a heavy wind where there might be fallen trees to closline someone .I think those guys are insaine to do it this time of year .but thats just Me LOL.

I will be installing a speedo on it for this race. So I guess we will see.
2001 Honda CR250R is 214 pounds dry with 44 HP at the rear wheel. When I raced Supermoto with it I was amaised how fast it would go, but no actual proof.

I went out and watched there last races two weeks ago. My brother-in-law is building a vehicle to enter in the races later this year.
For spectators take the following: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, chair, cooler, binoculars (is a ten mile track), and hand held radio.

I went to CORE today to scope things out I road the KLR because it is a milder track and I wanted to open up the KLR600 and see what it'll really do .It was very quiet out there today I only saw two other bikes and some beatle bugs as they were leaving I didnt get there till after 3 .My service manual specs say the klr will do 77MPH top speed @ 6000 RPM what it doesnt say is it'll do 84 MPH @ 7000RPM The wind was blowing about 35-40 mph from the south so I didnt get a fast reading along the straight near the highway only 75MPH there but along the back northeast heading north and then from that corner down hill heading west I felt like I was litterally flying I went around the track several times it is a fast track except for the offcamber turns and no good berms but Im shure that'll change as the track gets broken in better .The only thing i dont like about this bike is its wieght I cant get any good air with it as it tends to bottom out too easy .No wrecks and the 84 BII did a good job of hauling all My gear and the dog painter I road around the first lap with her sitting on the tank and handlebars she loves to ride and throws a fit if I dont take her when I go .Next time I go I want to do a lap time with the KLR600 and then some practice with the YZ400 and a lap time with it to see if there is a difference i know there'll be a difference with the jumps just don't know about top speed on that one .It would have been alot more fun to have had someone there to race with but I like the idea of having My own space to scope out the track as well .although it was a bit dangerous if I had gotten hurt i more than likely would have been on My own till the park opened up in the morning.

I went to CORE today
Sounds like fun. My suspension is not ready yet so my plan is to go out next weekend. I need to do some wide open runs to determine fuel economy for the race. The CR has a 3 gallon tank so I think I can do the entire race with one fuel stop.

I may come out and test out the Bronco a little, since we just got it started yesterday after sitting for 8 months.

Here is my brother in law's work so far on building a racer out at CORE. I picked up a Bronco from Don (bronc_17113) so I could pull the motor for my Bronco, then passed it off.
Started with:
http://www.lunatic4x4.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=14&pictureid=106
http://www.lunatic4x4.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=14&pictureid=107
http://www.lunatic4x4.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=2&pictureid=126
His plan is to rebuild my old motor, build the required roll cage, install the safety harnesses, run it in 2wd drive with the small tires, install and weld gears in the rear axle, dove tail front and back, get rid of the topper, and see what happens.
As we've seen out at CORE, it's whoever finishes wins.

Man-o-man I went to Jacks Moto track today from about 10 till I just got home and Im Beat-UP!I practiced one track almost all day .there are so many jumps and turns on each track it is imposible for Me to master a whole track all at once .This track I practiced on I almost have down .there are still three big jumps I avoid and Jack says He's gonna take out one all together cause a coupla guys got hurt on it its too far apart 3rd or fourth gear jump with nothing in-between the landing so it has to be stuck ...Well all three have to be stuck and Im just not there yet.i did practice in the sand turns for awile but dumped so I rested and went back to the other track and got in a little race with another guy and I was winning four times around the track but I got tired and so did He .Jack took some Pics of Me flying through the air some of the jumps I can do I get fourty feet of airtime plenty to do the jumps Im afraid of but we'll see maby one of these days when I get alittle more used to the bike .
I'll try to make it tomarrow morning but We will see im thinking im gonna be sore as ,all-get-out ! I have a tendone barking at Me from My left wrist as i type this Im gonna wrap it up soon as i get done typing .You gonna park near the trailer when You get there? or do You have a favorite spot I should know about ?

Well Im up I'lll do the three s's and grab some gas on the way I lost two gascans yesterday when a strap holding them broke so i'll have to improvise /fix one of My old steel cans take one for posterity im pretty shure the YZ is out of this competition as the top speed is only about 55-60 mph I think and I don't want to change the gearing it works perfect for the other track

Its old but it still works :thumbsup:http://www.rmftc.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=214
I picked up one of those fancy gascans yesterday man they are pricy ,almost 50 bucks at performance cycle with a spout. i havent decided which bike to enter if either 60 bucks is kinda pricy for an entry and another twenty for a spoter?? besides that I dont have a pit crew  I think I could swing it if it was only 35bucks and no spotter fee that just doesnt seem right to Me

OK, here is what James and I did today.
As you may know it rained 1.99" at CORE last night. So it was very muddy. I did a stupid thing a fell down on my practice lap and the handlebar dug into the soft dirt and snapped the left bar clean off.

So what kind of races are these cc limit? 4 strokes? 2 strokes? How much gear do they require u to wear?
84broncoII
10-25-2009, 10:32 PM
No limit on CC's that i know of .They try to run same cC's in the same catagory for payouts and year end overall points but usually all bikes kinda run together just cause there isn't enough in any one class to run seperate They start 30 seconds apart one at a time on a 10 mile track so You dont really see anyone unless You are passing .the quads even run at the same time after all the bikes have started then the start the quads .then they wait till all the bikes and quads are done to start the dirtbuggy and truck classes
all I know they checked at check in was helmet and maby boots i didnt see anyone without a chest protector, eye protection and gloves though they also tech the bikes probably check nuts and bolts and brake levers and pegs .they dont say exactly what they're checking fo on the bikes at least they didnt to Me they dont require spark arresters as its a closed track and Im pretty shure there isn't a noise limit either .you could probably run trials tires knobbies or enduro just as long as they arent bald .and have some tread left on them  all the info You could ever want is on the website http://www.coloradooffroadextreme.com/ look for the rulebook or list of rules they also sell a copy of the rulebook at the time of the race I think its ten bucks .The rule book also has some race fees as well for the different classes
