ok, sounds like we have finally agreed on some arrangements for the Christmas Party, so I hope to see everyone there that can make it!

The Rocky Mountain Ford Truck Club Christmas Party will be held Sunday, December 19th, at 6:00pm. We will be meeting at the Fuddruckers near 120th and Washington in Thornton, the address is 12020 Pennsylvania St. in Thornton. If you need a map or directions, you can visit www.fuddruckers.com or ask me. I have gotten with the management there and they say we should have no problems getting a section reserved for us, so this will be our plan unless otherwise announced. I am also trying to get some discounts or something for our group, and I will hopefully have some "goodies" to give out if I can scrounge some things up from some local suppliers.

As I mentioned on the website, if you live in Colorado Springs and would like to make the meet but don't want to spend the money on gas, etc. please let me know and I will drive down and give you a ride, and give you a ride back after the event. I will try to do my best to make sure everyone is accomodated as best as possible, so let me know if you would like a ride.

We are talking about doing a gift exchange, nothing over $5-10, if you are interested in participating, please post here: http://www.rmftc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=618

ALSO, as a special offer to members, if you are interested in purchasing any merchandise such as stickers, nametags/lanyards, etc. I will offer a 25% discount, if you can pick up the items at the party. This discount doesn't apply to apparel, but I can bring apparel items to the party as well if you are interested. You can see what merchandise is available at http://www.rmftc.com/merchandise.html Please let me know ahead of time if you would like me to bring anything to the party for you.

HOPE TO SEE EVERYBODY THERE!!!

Thanks Matt for working on getting this thing together. Another idea that I just had was to see if everyone can get something small from their place of employeement to give away as a raffle. I could see if I could get some gift cirtificates from Old Chicago, and maybe some other people could get some coupons or gift cirtificates from their work or places that they frequent often. Just an idea.

I'll be there. My place of employment does not have anything to really give away, so I'll pass on that part.

not even so much where you work, but if you know anyone else or have a good connection somewhere.

10 MPG ..I wish i had 10 MPG again, i get about 8 or 9 now, and have 3 tanks on my truck..lol...62 gallons of gas per fill up.
BTW, the springs is closer to Denver than where i live..lol. Its pretty much the central point.

Truck is running fine, still needs some stuff fixed here and there... but its certainly driveable. Stockpiling parts again.

dannan_w
12-02-2004, 08:40 PM
holy crap 62 gal! 8 mpg! wow that is impresive. you might look at a little car/truck for commuting. it might pay for it's self in one year. with all the gas you saved.

Kind of a bummer that people are bitchin about where the party is gonna be. Matt cant please everyone and he has already said about a hundred times that he would gladly give rides to have as many people there as possible. If you dont want to take his offer on the ride then dont complain about not getting to go. It makes sense to me to have it at a central location to the majority of members that participate regularly in events. I think matt deserves a huge thanks for organizing and offering to go out of his way to bring people, not to mention that the meet is out of the way for himself as well, not all the complaining about where it is. If he were trying to make it best for him then he wouldnt plan something that is 45 minutes away from where he lives! We have done several get togethers this summer and fall and nothing was ever mentioned about the springs until now. Its too bad really, and starting to bring the scrooge spirit to the whole thing.
I cant go, I will be out of town, but I realize that the date was chosen based on making sure the majority of folks were able to attend. Dont here me crying about not getting to go...
I didnt mean for this to be rude, just been getting on my nerves today reading all about it in every thread.

MMPC
12-02-2004, 09:16 PM
Yeah, it does take a lot of time, effort and frustration to put anything like this together; and the options are never perfect for everyone. I speak from experience here as I've organized my fair share of dinners, events, etc. Each one you survive almost makes it so you never want to do it again.

That said, I would once again offer my thanks to Matt for taking this on. He's been more than generous in his offers of even delivering people to/from the event. If someone can't make this one - perhaps you can make the next. And - with some more warning - perhaps we can move the next one down south; the one after that up north, etc... :)

12-02-2004, 09:16 PM
thanks for offering me a ride. i just want to come and can't. damn gas. is it ok to complain about gas prices? i hope yall have a fun and safe christmas party. friends don't let... you know the rest.

mattadams
12-02-2004, 09:17 PM
With the new interest in having a Springs meet, we will definately try to have some events in that area in the future. but as far as the Christmas party goes, it only makes sense to have it at the most central location for everybody. The best I can do is offer to give you a ride there and back, but we can't have meets right near where everyone lives, because if we make it close to one person, its far away for someone else.

Glass
12-02-2004, 09:20 PM
You werent rude, and I wish i could have found a way to say that like you did (with no cussing, personal attacks, etc..lol) that got the point across.
Im just hoping i dont have to work, so i can come down. Matt deffinantly goes WAY out of his way to accomidate members. The first group meet i went to, he drove me up to BFE, where i live because my truck wasnt working at the time. Pizza Hut delivers if you dont wanna drive, or take up the offer of a free ride. If i cant make it, ill probobally be eating Taco Bell..lol

BTW Matt....Distnace from my driveway to Saxon Mountain Trailhead in Georgetown = about 2.3 miles..

If the temp ever reaches above freezing here, there will be a ton of mud. It hasnt been above freezing here since Thanksgiving, and then it was a balmy 33. You gotta get off the rock ranger... Mud is more fun than rocks, but hopefully we all agree that rocks in the middle of mud (that you cant see) really do suck.

rocks hidden in mud suck poo. But so do 3 foot deep ruts that you only think are 6-12 inches or so. And of course, only on one side. Grrrrr. Thought I would blast through some gooey mud, ended up stuck, driver's side tires off the ground, ranger leaning WAAAYY over on the pass. side, with mud up to the bottom of the window. OOPS

Rangerboy03lvl2
12-07-2004, 09:28 PM

Just a reminder, there will be several folks here at the Christmas Party that have never made a meet before. If you have purchased a nametag/lanyard from me in the past, please bring it and wear it! Will help folks identify who is who.
If you don't have one, please let me know and Iw ill make you a deal on these. I'd like to see most people there with nametags, makes everyone feel more welcome and more comfortable, especialyl fo rthe folks like me who have a terrible name memory.
