View Full Version : Jock Strap, and the junk sack

With a title like jock strap you'd think it's going to be some funny joke, or maybe some weird fetish thing. This is neither :). If you are the type that would say "Too much information!" don't read down...
Some folks know, the last few months I've been suffering from periodic extreme stomach pain to the point where when it hits, it can be one of the most extreme pains I've felt and I have trouble standing up straight etc. In addition to that I also found a lump... lets just say... in the junk sack. Not attached to anything else in there, but of a size to the point where the original inhabitants of the sack are having to adjust to the new tenant.
My schedule kept me from being able to go see the doctor until this week... but got in on Monday, he could tell pretty much right away what it was, and had a meeting with a surgeon today. Long story short, I have two hernias that need surgery to repair... one is umbilical (meaning right near my belly button, the one causing all the pain) and the other one is just a general hernia (if there was a name for it, I didn't get it). I'm calling it my "junk" hernia.
The surgery on "junk" hernia means I get to wear a jock strap for a while while things heal, I guess to make sure the "normal junk" (the original inhabitants of the junk sack) doesn't weigh down the "junk sack" and cause any tearing in it. I likely won't be able to move much for the first week or so, my driving will be limited for a while, as will my ability to lift anything over a few pounds for at least 6 weeks.
I've never shopped for a jockstrap before. I wonder if they let you try them on, LOL.
Bring on the jokes! :)

No jokes here Matt just glad it wasn't anything really bad. Lay around milking it(bad pun there I know)for everything you can from the better half. Heal up and be ready to roll.....

I hope it all gets better for you Matt. My buddy at work (the guy that lets me race his '69 Camaro) had hernia surgery 4 weeks ago. He's all healed up now but the doc limited him on how much he can lift so he told his wife she'll have to hold it for him when he goes pee. :laughing3:

I'm glad you got to the bottom of that.
When I had my repair two years ago the Doc did some strange thing to make the tear stand out. I told him that whatever he did I felt it in two distinct spots. Turns out I had an older tear that I have lived with for quite some time. The Doc fixed both, so I guess I BOGO'd???
I think the worst pain was waking up from a deep, medicated sleep because I tried to roll over.

I got fixed (vasectomy) a couple years back. (not the same procedure, but in the same area) One bit of advice I can give you is: If they use the stitches that "go away" on their own in a few days, and those days are close to being over, but not quite there... Watch how you get out of chairs after you sit down. I got up wrong and tore the stitches. It ended up not being too bad, the incision was mostly healed underneath but it was definitely an OH S#!T!!! moment and hurt quite a bit.
Think of it this way. Nows the time to pile all the movies you've been meaning to see next to the bed and have a movie marathon.
Or... You could elect not to have the procedure, claim the lump is a third nut and use it to break into the porn industry.

Those are no fun I know, Hope you heal as quick as I did, I had a full blown hernis on the right side they put in some mesh and it is the weirdest feeling when it rolls up from time to time, now I need to get the linguinal hernia repaired on the left side.
Just remember that stairs and stepping up to high causes a lot of pain when recovering!

Follow the post-op instructions as well!
One of my co-workers came back too early and his mesh didn't take the way it should have. Two painful years later he went back under the knife so they could cut out the wadded up mesh and replace it.

Well I am finally home... what was supposed to be a hour-long surgery followed by a few hours of recovery turned into 2 1/2 days at the hospital suffering from terrible nausea and pain, the surgery ended up being a lot more compllcated then they expected... I am still a hurtin boy and suffering from a lot of dizziness and nausea still... but at least I'm home now... I do miss that pushb-button pain killer, but think that had something to do with my nausea as well so well see how the next few days go... they prescribed me some pain-killers and anti-nausea meds, but so far the anti-nausea meds have done little or not to affect the nausea.
I also got the joy of my first (and hopefully last) catheter which isn't nearly as cool as it sounds.

Sounds like someone was having fun. I hope you learned your lesson and next time listen to your mother when she tells you to stop playing with it.

Yep, behave yourself!
My first thought was allergic to the pain meds, but that should have got worse while you were still in the horsepistol.
Just remember: Do it right, or do it over...I thought you'd see it my way. LOL
