Thinking of potential places ot have this Christmas event, one is a Chinese Buffet on Broadway (near Belleview) that Chris and his sister know very well, and I have eaten there several times, and they do have pretty good food. Depending on whether we decide to do a lunch or dinner thing, the price would be between about $8-10 per person, with a discount if we have 20+ people show up. They would be able to "hold" a few tables for our party, thought hey don't have a private meeting room or anything, but its all you can eat, and the food is actually good! :)
I was made for all-you-can-eat. They never make any money on me. If the timing is right, count me in.

Don't serve a martial arts suit? Huh?
I didn't know what kigogi was, but when I looked it up, it says it's a martial arts suit.
EDIT - DOH: Nevermind - kegogi is what he's talking about, and I 2nd that. No Kegogi for me. I'll try just about anything, but that goes a bit too far.

ok what is this stuff you are referring to? LOL they don't serve any "weird" chinese foods, just the basics. They also have a salad bar, fruits and vegetables, deserts, soups, etc.

OK so so far only one person that's against the Chinese food idea. Any other suggestions? I'm trying to think of a place that can accomodate our group where we can talk and so forth without having to worry about interrupting other peoples meals too much, and it'd be nice if, like a buffet, there was no bill confusion, everyone puts int he same exact amount. I figure if we want, after Chinese, we can hang out at my place or do whatever, I'm open to suggestions. Dom had talked about a gift exchange which I thought sounded pretty cool, we could keep it cheap since we're not a rich club, LOL.
What does everyone think of December 18th? It's a Saturday, figure that's before people will start heading out of town for Christmas, etc.

Also, the idea of eating dog is absolutely disgusting. but to some cultures, eating cow is sacreligous so I guess you just can't win sometimes.

So you're telling me there is no place we can eat where everyone would be satisfied? There are plenty of restaurants and places that serve enough variety where everyone can be happy with something. I'm kinda bummbed at the idea of being left out of dinner because I don't dig Chinese food.
How about the Golden Corral then? Same idea - buffet, and they may hold some tables for us. And once again it's my type of place. All-you-can-eat.

Urban, thats why I asked for other ideas as well, I would liek to try to accomodate people as much as possible. Golden Corral is an idea too, I've only been there once, as I recall it was pretty busy, but I can try and call one later and see if they can make arrangements for our group.

I'd start poking around for ideas myself but most of them would be around Boulder, and most of you aren't around Boulder. Outside of Boulder I usually stick to the chain restaurants like Chili's, Red Robin, etc. I'm real busy tonight but I might poke around Qwestdex tomorrow morning.

ok I spoke to a manager at Golden Corral. He says they do have private rooms that you can use free of charge, as long as you arrange it in advance. Who would like Golden Corral? It's about the same price.
The problem is there isn't really one thats "central". There is one out near Parker Rd., one in Longmont, one in Colorado Springs, one at about 95th and I-25, etc.

As usual I'll drive damn near anywhere. I've never been to Golden Corral, but I would give it a shot.
I'm okay with GC or Chinese. I think the GC in either Aurora or I-25/95th make the most sense and are the most "central" for people up north or down south...

I'm up for Golden Corral over the chinese buffet. The kind of food is more in the sprit of chirstmas. Home cooking style, and it seems to fit everyone's choices.

There is a golden corral on mississippi just west of I-225. Thats pretty central and easy to find.
Also to add: I posted over at FTW about the party for those who do not post over here.

Just now saw this thread. The "Great Wall" at Wadsworth & Hampden is the best buffet I've ever been to. They even have a fresh sushi bar. If your ever in the neighborhood, check it out.
