You know how hard it is to find a good tire on 16.5" rims? If not, it is tough. I mean there is some out there, but to add to it, I need them wider than 12.5" and would like them in 35's and a 37 at the most, also, it has to be a mud tire, not an A/T. So if anyone knows of any that fit my stip's then please let me know!

I know we're all not made of money but these days, I think your best bet would be to purchase some 17" wheels for two reasons.....................
Good selection of off-road/mud terrain tires in the 17" category. They're not priced much different that the 16.5" tires.
16.5" wheels don't have the inner lip to help keep the bead seated against the wheel. That's not much of an issue until the tires are aired down for trails usage. Once aired down, that becomes a real big issue............very easy to unseat (blow) the bead off & lose all air & possibly trash the tire or possibly not get it reseated unless you're a brave soul & you wanna do the "ether" trick.
16" would be better for tire prices than 17" tires but on some 3/4 ton Fords, the drums, rotors, & calipers won't allow you to go down in size even a 1/2" because the wheel will interfere with them. That's why I suggested 17" wheels & tires. If yours can fit 16" wheels, that'd be the way to go.

Ya, I was planning on getting 17"'s later, but I like the real wide rims and tires and if I remember right, the widest was 10", but maybe I am wrong a little something is telling me there is a 12". But, I'll check again. I decided once the snow melts I was going to get new tires, but maybe I will give in and buy a wheel/tire package. LOL, but I really like these rims. :( lol.

16" rims fit on both the front and back of the truck. 17" or 16"s? what would work better.

i would go 16's but that is purely personal preference. you can get a good set of 315/75/16's for around 1k

15" don't fit. The 16's fit with little space between drum and rim.

hopefully you aren't talking about fitting a 16" or 17" tire on a 16.5" rim?

Ya, just looking for some ideas of what I should buy for the next purchase of tires and maybe rims. On craigslist I found a 16" set of 4 and with tires for $175. There mags. and they are 75 wide. Which is probably wide enough I guess.

I looked around the net and it seems that some stock chevy 8 lug wheels have smaller center hole so they will not fit on a ford .how ever the ford 8 lug stock wheels will fit on dodge gmc and chevy hummer as long as they are the 8 lug fords before ford went to metric around the year 2000
The other difference was Chevy have some 15"8 luggs and they have some clearence issues with other trucks backspacing and brake calipers
The reason I asked was I have a set of american racing steel mag wheels 8 lug with beuty rings and center caps they are white with red and blue stripe but they could be painted any color i believe the size tire on them now is 245-75-16 a/s coupla of them are bairly to the wear marks but still have good tread and are ballanced nicehttp://thumb14.webshots.net/t/56/156/7/57/96/540275796xVqptP_th.jpg (http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1540275796074327474xVqptP) center caps are a little rusty and I have no lugnuts They were on my GMC for many years I bought them from peerles tire back in the day and so they should be rather generic for all 8 lug patterns except the newer ford metrics they have been in my garage as spares and for sale since Jan 2006 :D

How much would you want for them? If there still there, and if they fit. Is there someone around with and 8 lug ford that you can try? and I dont really use center caps anyway, and I got lug nuts. If you can get a pic that would be nice. I just like to shop around before I make a definate purchase.

Find some pre-97 Powerstroke wheels. They are the steel silver rims that take the old hub caps. They are 16's. You can usually get those for little to nothing. Everyone that I have tried or seen have never had a problem going on. Come to think about it, I think even a few of the aluminum wheels will fit also depending on style from that same era. I have been looking for some more but the ones I find people think they are worth gold for a stock steel wheel...I'll keep looking until I find them in the price I like. :twocents:

84broncoII, I may be interested if they fit. One thing you can do is measure the inside center hole, and I will measure mine and if they match then they'll fit, if not, by any significant difference they won't. Just a thought. And, depending on where exactly you are located I may be able to have my moms bf pick them up for me cause he is down in the Aroura/Denver area quite a bit. So, let me know!

Ok, thanks. Once I get some time I will have to go visit my truck and take a measurement to see.
