:idea:Ok so I am actually getting motivated again and just itching to fab up some things for the ranger, not really sure how my next project will effect the overall performance but will find out once its done.
As soon as it is done and I know how it will react to the mod I will post up a few pics.

right now Im working on a front winch bumper that will be a tube design with the winch tucked nicely between the frame rails, rock sliders and some homebrew extended radius arms for my ttb.
I love fabrication threads and am anxious to see what you guys come up with.

Sounds good you'll have to put up some pics as it comes along.
OK here is a quick update so far, I modified my roof rack to get more air flowing thru it which so far has help in mileage dept. still working on another idea that is my main focus, I am building an air box for the filter and a snorkel. I like doing the river crossings and have been fairly lucky so far not to get too much H2O in the filter but why chance it since I got the materials on hand.
Once both of these are done I will be re modifying the rack yet again, it will change to where the front lights won't be mounted to it and it will flip back over the bed so I can put my tent up on it for camping.
All this in between build sliders and bumpers for a few of you guys.

Ok as it often goes my fabbing has came to a halt as Stephen and I are trying to finish up what welding is left on the 98 ranger so it can go to the bodyshop for finish work and primering. He got a hell of a good deal from one of Brandon's(my oldest son) co workers to finish it for $1500. So as soon as we are done I'll be back on the other stuff. I need a vacation!!!!! LOL:thumbsup:

I could use some rock sliders for my FS bronco.
Not to slide on rocks with but to reinforce the sides to help protect the kids from a T bone.
Plus it will look sweet when I slide over curbs at the mall...

looking to do something along these lines doesnt need to be a headache rack necessarilly just needs to be a way by wwhich I can mount an atv winch in the bed up high enough to get a good angle on say an elk carcass:popcorn:

Don that is very do-able, I would definitely put something up there tho to protect the window just in case something comes loose on the winch.

get some ideas goin and drop me a line on price I would like to still be able to see out the back window I had thought about something along the line of a headache rack with roll bar type supports I dunno i want to minimize bed space taken up for sure. I really like what I can see of the setup I posted but it took me 2 days just to find a pic of something like what I was talking about.

Do want the winch to sit up as high as that one does or would it be better to have it do a little lower, if possible depending on the winch you could mount it under the bed and install 1 pulley up thru the floor and 1 off the rack which leaves all the bed space open except where the rack mounts to the floor. What size winch? I would not think you need more than 3k to 4k lbs. for hauling elk or ATV.

3k and i would like to have it up high. what I have seen in the past was mounted at the top of a headache rack which gave the best hauling angle but I have my concerns with how most headache racks mount and being able to withstand the weight

Ok I will do up a few drawings today and see what works and then get with you to check them out, is this for the new truck? When you can send me the measurements of the bed width at the rails(inside and out) and inside floor (side wall to side wall), Also the height of the front bed panel and from the top of the bed to to the top of the cab. Also round or square tubing?
