Just an idea, but how would everyone feel about getting together for dinner as the club before Christmas? It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just have dinner together (somewhere non fast food). Have a few drinks and shoot the breeze. Anyone interested? We could even just have a a get together at someone's house. Any other ideas?

What about Woody's Pizza, in Golden, or I think theres one up North somewhere...thats where Id go watch hockey when it was actually played..If not, I think Moe's had christmas colorad chips, I cant remember, that would be kind of festive.

This sounds like a good plan to me :). I know every year the New York Chapter has this huge shindig where they rent out a hotel ballroom type thing, have a lot of people show up, rent hotel rooms, etc. But some of those guys also seemt o sleep in mattresses stuffed with cash, LOL. I'm cool with about anything. I'll try to start thinking of places we could do it, unless you've got one in mind?

I would really like to do something... I'm going home for Christmas this year though... Think we could shoot for like Dec 11th? I know that is kind of early but if you think about it, most people have lots to do right before the holiday usually.

It'd be a hell of a lot easier to get in somewhere if we went after the new year.

I know just about everywhere is booked for any large gatherings from here until Christmas already.

I dont think it will be an issue having too many people... we dont need to go anywhere that requires having a reservation or a booking... many of us dont have the cash that those places usually require. lol

Just throwing out the caution. With a family of 5, we've run into problems the last 2 times we TRIED to go out. Ended up having to just come home. Kids can't wait over an hour just to get seated.

As for the reservation thing, yeah I know all about that. I look for the $1 menu everywhere I go.

Actually, in thinking about it, I like Rob's suggestion of Moe's. It's too far to go on a regular basis but they treated us pretty good last time we were there as a group, and theres "after party" places only a few blocks away, wink wink. :).

Tray

Never heard of Moe's. What is it like? Where is it?

mattadams

Moes is a burrito place, kind of downtown, off Lincoln and 10th, near Gart Sports superstore there... we went there as a group and they gave everyone but me shirts (cause no shirt would fit me anyways LOL), and they all seem real nice and like I say, its a few blocks from lodo.

I can talk to my boss at Old Chicago and see what they can do? He may be able to hook us up with a discount. The Moe's idea is good, we should see if they have the burrito bars to-go like chipotle does. Then we could just gather at someone's house it may be a little bit better that way.

Tray

Damn, I worked down there all that time, and never heard of Moe's.

I walked past the sports castle weekly on my way to the credit union.

Hey Dom, what do you do at Old C? Who's the manager over there now? If you can't sweet talk them, maybe I can pull some strings. My mother-in-law worked for their corporate office for almost 10 years.

Ok, i just requested Moe's because I was joking about it. I'd rather go to Chipolte, better taste.

I'm just a line cook/bitch the gm at the broomfield store is scott adams. I'll talk to him and see what he can do. I know that I get a 40% discount, but its only for up to 6 people. This is a possibility to do after christmas around the beginning of January, since it was kinda last minute. It doesn't necessarily have to be a christmas party, but just a holiday get together.

If Chipolte does blow...I second going to Chipoltes. Thought of something like Jillians, Red n' Jerrys? or whats that place on south Sante Fe drive with a bunch of games and tv's and beer?

Damn, which one is that? I haven't been going to the right one then.

yeah Moe's is better then Chipotle, just further away! Oh, and the reason you probably iddn't see Moes is its only like a month old. They might do catering thing but it might be more pricy.
It was just a suggestion though, I'm cool with old Chicago or even the idea of doing a pot luck at someones house or something.

How's about something in the Spring!! lol
That's the only way I could make it, lol.

I'd be up for a Christmas Party. I'm trying to think of places we could go. Perhaps somewhere downtown for just drinks/bar food might be good? Most of them are equipped to handle large crowds anyway - we could just give them a heads-up. The nice thing about downtown and the free mall shuttle is you can be anywhere from lodo to the 16th St. Mall in minutes with a little bit of a walk...

Office party, MB club party, Cristmas songs on the radio in mid November, BAH HUMBUG!!!!

LOL... If the date fits my schedule I'm up for anything.

That explains why I never saw it while I was down there. Did they go into the place next to the Funky Budha that used to be the french restaurant?

Theyre right next to some place, i think its a soup place called something with the word tomato in it. lol im sure that helps zero.

Tray
11-18-2004, 11:12 AM
Yeah I bet there's a sidewalk in front of it......and then a street goes right by there......oooh, and probably some parking meters too right?

No worries, I have a good idea where it is, so next time I'm down that direction, maybe I'll check it out.

Tray

To be honest, I think Chipolte blows.

Well, after going there for lunch today, I didn't see anywhere this was happening.

On the other hand, I don't know that I'd care to see such a thing with the people helping out behind the counter.

Matt - Thanks again for the stuff. I'll snap a pic or two once I get the new sticker on.

POOP lol When I said Spring in my earlier post, I meant Springs! As in Colorado Springs... stupid typos

Tray

 at boggler

That's great. I was wondering why you couldn't make it anywhere until Spring came, but hey, you never know what's going on behind the scenes. Makes a lot more sense now.

I think I might have a place that we could all get together at. Or at least for the chirstmas party. The name of the place is kind of sketchy but who knows it might worth it. I also found out I can get a 15% discount on dinners there since I work for starbuck (I knew working starbucks was good for something!!) It's called "The Patriot and Loyalist Pub." here is the link to the place: Pub (http://www.pandlpub.com/pages/1/index.htm) I think this weekend i might go check it out just to see what it's like.

Sounds Verrrry sketchy as names go, but a discount is definately worth a look see.

LOL yeah sounds like an interesting name, not one I would've chosen for my bar, but thats ok, their menu looks decent.

From taking a glance at the menu, it appears that it is mostly british food... if you have never been to England, or have never heard, England IS NOT IN ANY WAY known for having good food.
Just a thought.

Don't they boil everything?

Walking Eagle
11-27-2004, 12:34 PM
It may be British food, but I'm sure they made it more American by throwing hot sauce or jalapeņo peppers in everything they make.

Dom and I have been talking about Old Chicago or a buffet or something too, I'm still definatley interested in getting a party going. Maybe even something people with kids can come to, maybe... LOL. We were also talking of maybe doing a gift exchange thing (even if its just cheapy white elephant type gifts) and then I'll have gifts for some folks there too...

Last time I went to Old Chicago, I got a "little" drunk. Something about taking Nyquil a couple of hours before I went and then having a couple of shots of Jack Daniels. :puke:

DaneTrain

I'd say down in the Springs...and somewhere cheap!!

mattadams
11-29-2004, 12:02 PM
I personally wouldn't be opposed to having it in the Springs, but now sure how many would show. Last time we had a meet in the springs, the only people that came were Denver people, no one from the Springs even bothered to show up. But maybe we can try to plan something down there later, if interest is sufficient.
I put up this post here: http://www.rmftc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=605
regarding a potential restaurant choice.
