So today .. I'm driving down the mountain ( I had to go to Breckenridge for a job) and hear a small kachink under the truck .. like I had run over a large rock and it kicked up under the truck ..

So ... I didn't really give it much thought until I stepped on the brakes and noticed the right front was reaaaaal wobbly.

I pull over to inspect and realize the 'rock' was actually one of the bolts that holds the brake caliper on ....

I jerry rig it as best I could and stay away from the brakes until I can get into Denver and pull into Courtesy Ford to get me a new brake caliper bolt .. as I'm pulling in .. I have NO choice but to use the brakes. The caliper drops and digs into my rim.

pssssssssss Flat goes the tire

As I'm changing the the flat and putting the new caliper bolt in ... I'd say 3 Courtesy Ford employees walk by and just look at me and say "bummer" .. nope .. not "can I get someone to help you sir?" or "wow... do you need a hand from one of our highly skilled FORD employees?" ... no no .. "BUMMER" :?: :o

After inspecting the inside of the rim ... needless to say .. I fugged it up beyond repair  so I finish up and run the rim by Big O so they can confirm-- I need a new rim

As I'm pulling away from Big O ... I notice the service engine soon light is back on ! whoo hoo !!!(Maybe I can get Matt to look at the codes this weekend at toys for tots?)

I get home reset the light and start inspecting the rest of the truck .. ya know .. make sure ALL the brake caliper bolts are tight ..etc. and notice the right rear leaf spring has about a 1/4" to 1/2" gap in the last leaf

Maybe ! that's where my rear end KLUNK is coming from? input is appreciated ! hehe

I then go inside and jump on my computer and pull up eBay ... what do I find ? someone in California is selling my rim ..not just one .. but 4! for $175 local p/u. (Big O wanted $169 for one) Long story short ... buddy of mine lives about 15 mins from this wheel guy and is gonna pick em up and ship them to me this weekend ! what a guy!

Longer story shorter .. I think I've figured out what one of my other posts was relating to .. the klunk is a gap in a leaf !

who says mondays suck? Mine has been QUITE eventfull!

Im not sure what you mean by a gap in the leaf. When in doubt, check the other side and see what it looks like. Maybe I can take a look at it this weekend.
That sucks about Courtesy Ford, Im not a Courtesy Ford fan myself, very high pressure and then after the sale seems they could really give a rats ass... but I hope things start working out for you! LOL.
I have 4 FX4 wheels/tires in my garage, let me know if you want em, I'll make you a heck of a deal :). Unless you've already finalized business on the other rims...

By the way, I've got two spring packs from my F-150. One of my dads friends expressed interest in them, but if he doesnt want em you can have em.

Man, that does sound very eventful.
You should have told those "courtesey" Ford folks to f*** off, I don't need your help, I can do it myself you lazy pricks!
HAHA that would be funny.
Sorry that all happened.
At least all is accounted for now.

Thanks Matt ..
I couldn't beleive those fuggers at Courtesy .. not very 'courteous' !! LOL

but I did have to laugh that nobody gave a patooie about someone doing 'work' on their truck right in their parking lot in front of the sales offices !!! bwaaa haaa ! If I was a potential buyer .. I'd kinda pay attention to something like that ! but that's just me !

anywho .. I just finished up the deal on the other rims .. I hope to have them by this weekend! maybe even back on the truck by Sunday's outing!

as far as the springs .. I definitely see a difference between the left side and the right side ... I'll do a little more research .. and if I need them and the ones you have fit .. I'll take em!

Actually I believe every word about Courtesy Ford. I purchased my F-150 from them way back in the day and they kept telling me my brakes need replaced, blah, blah, blah. I get the brakes replaced for a nice charge and find out later they did nothing. I never went back to Courtesy Ford since. They are the closest dealership but I'd rather go to one that is farther away.

It's so nice how everything works itself out with a little patience.

I must have worked up some good Kharma points with the Toys For Tots weekend ! :D

my new wheels showed up on Tuesday .. but I was out of town (whoo hooo! Laramie, WY) on a job.

by the time I returned on Wed night .. it was too late to take the new wheels over to Big O .. and Thursday being T-day ..I had to exercise some patience.

I did .. and busted everything out early this morning. Well come to find out .. not only did I get a GREAT deal on ebay for the wheels - they were in better condition than I originally thought !

To top it all off .. the guy at Big O totally hooked me up with his friends/family rate to have the tires remounted & balanced !

The truck is now happy .. no service lights (knock on wood) .. tight brakes and shiny new wheels ! whoo hoo !

Hope everyone else is having a good day as well

:-)
