Here's another one for the, "Some People?" but this one made me angry.
Me, my wife & daughter were on our way home from my Dad's house. My daughter wanted the new Aerosmith Guitar Hero so we stopped at Entertainmart. I pulled into the parking spot & we got out & started walking to the store when two police cars pull in kinda fast from both directions of that aisle.
One officer gets out his vehicle fast & runs up to an older Sentra. The windows were all rolled down & inside was a 4 year old girl without a car seat & an infant in a car seat. Again, windows down, no adult(s).
A girl, appeared to be about 20 years old called the police after waiting outside for almost 20 minutes to see if the adult was gonna come out. They never did so she called the police out of concern for those babies.
About 3 minutes after the police arrive, out comes the dad. Appears to be about 24-25, with a bag full of video games. Evidently, his video games were more important than his children's well being.
The officer asked him why he left them unattended. He said, "I was just in there for a few minutes". The officer said, "Are you really that stupid?" "Kids get abducted every day!" The dad said, "I'm sorry", with a zero look of remorse on his face & in his voice.
Actually, I think he was only "sorry" that he got caught, not sorry for leaving his kids unattended.
We went in the store from that point. When we came out about 15 minutes later, the officer was citing him for something. The dad had a look of severe displeasure on his face especially when the officer said, "We're waiting for your wife to show up, she's leaving her job right now."
Anyway, with all the abductions that happen, that was definetly an open invitation for someone to abduct kids. Does he not love his kids? He loves video games for sure.

I got left alone way back when too. Even though there was crime back then, it didn't seem to be like it is these days.
Personally, I wouldn't have called the cops. If I saw that, I woulda hung out at that car & watched the kids. I woulda gave the dad a piece of my mind but that wouldn't have done any good. Bottom line, I'm glad the kids weren't abducted but the thought of his uncaring attitude about his kids angered me some.

I'm glad the dipshit got caught. I'm glad his "wife" had to leave work and take custody of the children. Dipshits who can't manage taking an infant and a toddler into a store have no business:
A) Being at that store.
or
B) Have no business being in custody of our most vulnerable segment of the population.
grump out...

It is sad that some people do not take their responsiblities of parenting more serious. Apparently he is is not mature enuff to be a father yet. Good thing the younger gal was keeping an eye out & that he got caught, you know maybe his wife will kick his sorry butt to the curb and now he will have to attend parenting classes.

there is no all of a sudden rise in predators and deviants, the numbers as a percentage of population are the same just that instead of being a local affair that was quickly handled by those around it such events are publicised and blown out of proportion by the media and "watchdog" groups. go look at many of the so called "child molestors" in jail, while yes, many of them are true chesters there are a great deal that are victems of unfair public witch hunting. when a man has naked pictures of a 14y/o who claimed to be 19 and is sentanced to 4years in jail and is now listed as a sexual predator, something is wrong with our system. this one event that i just described actually happend b/c he went through my jail, highly decorated combat vet played by the system. im sorry but the media, the public, and parents need to step back and reanalyze the situation.
im very fortunate in that i was given the freedom and responsability most young people deserve and allowed to live instead of being cooped up and over protected.

I'm glad the woman called the police. I have two young boys and if I go into a store or anywhere else, they go with me. Even just to hop into a 7-11 for a few seconds.
Theres been lots of instances where someone goes into a convenience store or grocery store and comes out to find their car gone.
And yes, I believe the world IS worse off than when I was a kid. I used to run around freely, playing along boulder creek and an abandoned golf course in Golden. I also was left in the car numorous times as a kid while my parents made a quick purchase.
Those were different times back then. I also ran around with a "Rambo" type survival knife strapped to my hip everywhere I went. Could you imagine a 10 year old kid playing around today with an eight inch, fixed blade, camo hunting knife on his belt in a public place?
Do I think there are "more" predators out there? Perhaps not... but I think they are, in general, bolder and have more avenues to explore their deviant behavior, as well as a "community" to tap into. (before, the local weirdo was usually well known and people looked out for him. now the local weirdo's can connect with each other almost anonymously all over the world without having to leave their homes. )
Oh, and about the "decorated combat veteran" and those unknowing pics of a 14 year old girl?
We all just watched the olympics and witnessed the Chinese try to pass off a couple 14 year olds as 16. No one bought it. Are there 14 year olds that could pass for 19. Yes, there are probably some out there. But for the most part I believe the guy had to have either known her real age and didn't care, or he liked her because he likes the look of underage girls. The background story would be interesting to know, but I doubt he's totally innocent in the matter.

Not to change the subject or anything, but I seem to recall someone from one of the four-wheeling boards a while ago having to be on the sexual predator list because he had sex with an underaged girl. What makes the story messed up is, he was 19 she was 16, but he thought she looked young, she said no no she was 18, even showed him an ID showing she was 18 (turned out to be a fake). They even brought this up during the case, judge didn't care, said sex with a minor is sex with a minor no matter what.

I'm not saying things like that doesn't happen, and I think most of us wouldn't consider a 16-19 matchup as something to look down upon. 14-19 or older? that's another story.
I'm just glad I'm at the age where the young ones consider me an ol' fogey and wouldn't want me anyway.
You'd be amazed at what being old, fat, bald and ugly can do for your moral character. :)

you say that now.....one of the guys (older, hes in his 50s, fat and balding) i used to work with at my church (we ran the sound room) was assaulted by a 16y/o girl in my church. he went straight to one of the pastors and told them what happend and it turned out he didn't get in any trouble but imagine what could have happend if someone else saw it and judged before they knew what happend?
and before any of you say there was more going on here....i dated this girl a few years before this (when i was much younger as well) and shes flat out crazy.
and with my earlier post ab age, some asians stay looking really young to us for a long long time, plus don't get me into more agist restrictions we have in our society, relationships is not the only one
