Thats such a cool pickup too. I was suprised when it fired right up when I was up there that time. I cant wait to get that camper here now that I see it again.
Larry I like both ford and chevys from those years they seem to have some of the coolest body lines

Yup, I like those Chevy's too, there's just something about that era of pickups.

Well, Cory bought it but I haven't anything about it in a while. He may not even have it anymore. I don't wanna hijack your thread but here's a small pic of it

very nice i need to go out to a jy sometime to find a bumper and a couple front quarters
shawns 64 F100
07-07-2008, 09:21 PM
If you plan to restore that, then you migth want to have Ft Collins bumper rechrome yours. instead of a JY bumper. and if you do decide to do that, you will obviously want to repaint it, and I know just the guy for that, and he can have all the chrome done for you at the same time, I know its expensive to restore anything these days. but atleast a truck like that can be done in sections especially in such nice condition
bronc_17113
07-07-2008, 09:22 PM
biggest reason for the bumper is the dent , driver quarter as well, passenger quarter has bas rot in that one corner as well.

07-07-2008, 09:29 PM
and if you do decide to do that, you will obviously want to repaint it, and if you that, you will want to reupholster the interior, and if you do that, you will want to paint the interior, and if you do that, you will want to turn that engine into a serious stroker, and if you that, you will want to to tub it, and if you do that, you will want to.........???
he he, It's never ending :D

07-07-2008, 09:30 PM
yeah, I meant they will straighten your original bumper and rechrome it. on these old pickups the metal is solid and thick its easy to replace the section thats rusted, and im sure you can buy the patch replcement panels for it, but I dont know how solid they are, all the mustang repor panels arent near as solid as the originals

it seems the 66s are the most common I believe becasue they have twinn I beams instead of thraight axles, but the 62 grilles are the most popular. I think 65 is Twinn I beam also and 64 was first year for the bed style before that it was just a flare around the wheel instead of going to the rear.
what would really be cool with Dons is a Ranger package with the camper special, I cant remember and cant tell from his photos but a tool box in the passenger side bed has always been one of my favorite features on them as well

It'd be cool if his has that.
My '66 had one but it wasn't a Ranger package or a camper special, it was just a "Custom" package, optioned with a 352 2V, & 4 speed, & an AM radio, possibly that storage compartment. Basically, a stripped model with a few options.

mines just a custom as well, Larry only option i have is vented floorboards

my 64 is a custom cab that came with a 223 that had an allergic reaction to a connecting rod  ( hence the 460 ) It has no features either, no radio, nothing, came from garnsey-wheeler, I even found garnsey-wheeler on the inside of the rims before tires were installed
And lol at Floorboard Vents

the set on the 69 is different than the set for the 78-79's i'm giving you. I just remmebered looking at the pics i need to get those original hubcaps cleaned up too
shawns 64 F100
07-07-2008, 10:22 PM
you know what, I think I have a set of caps that might fit your wheels, they are from the 70s era but are too big for my 64s rims, if they fit you can have them

I had them on craigs listing hoping to find someone that needs them instead of throwing them out, I didnt have a pic on thre but here is what I had listed, I do have pics of them but not on a photobucket yet
these are ford center caps and beauty rings. they are nice ceneter caps. the rings have some bends in them but will clean up really nice the part number on the sticker inside reads Ford D7TA-1130-BA
T-171-C
8 10 83
The caps measure 10 3/4" across and the rings measure 15 3/4" across I believe they are for a 16 inch rim from 1977 or newer

i love those old bumpsides.
if i had money and room for another project, i would get one and cherry out the body, redo the interior, then swap in a mid 90's diesel motor and drive train.

that's what I was thinking do I need the same adapter plate for that one as we used on the bronco?
Warrlord
08-24-2011, 10:59 PM
Only if it's a "spreadbore" like that quadrajet on the Bronco is. If it's a "squarebore", no adapter needed.

Don, have you checked into the Edelbrocks, they are really easy to set up and work on, + once it is dialed in you basically are done until you rebuild it which is easy peasy. The last Holley I had it was a pain everytime the barometrics change outside it had to be readjusted or different jets and needles.
Just another option.

I think a Holley carb would be a wise choice! As you know I have a pile of edelbrocks laying around and they aren't even worth their weight. Need to recycle them one of these days. LOL

Yeah, I prefer Holly carbs myself, Carter AFB (edelbrock) is not a bad carb at all, I just dont enjoy the calibration system.

Personally, I prefer the Holleys (except when it's on a 4x4 that goes on trails). I've given the Carters/Edels honest chances>(plural) and while the driveability is a tad better straight out of the box when compared to a Holley out of the box, I've tuned both kinds to get great driveability but the Holley always made the engines produce more power with the same gas mileage between them when the cfm was no more than 35 cfm over the other.
The worst thing I had with both carbs was "hot soak". One of these (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/15497/10002/-1?parentProductId=1087692) sitting on the intake with one of these (http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr-Gasket/720/3710/10002/-1?parentProductId=743789) on top of the phenolic spacer, cured the hot soak for good. Don't use an aluminum spacer cause it won't dissipate the heat & it transfers the heat from the intake directly to the carb, inducing the possibilty of "hot soak". I don't care for wood spacers because they always seem to crack after time.
Burg460
08-31-2011, 07:24 PM
I agree Larry! Although I have had more heat soak issues with Edelbrocks then with Holleys. I feel Edelbrock does not have enough service parts for their carbs. All the ebrocks I have laying around need bushing kits for the throttle shafts as they are so worn out they leak vacuum like mad and have very poor idle issues. Holley sells every part individually to fully rebuild their carbs.
