Spring Creek 6/21/08
Early, well say 9:30 at the Starbucks next to the gas station at Downieville, exit 234 off of I-70. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=36 (http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=36)
There are a couple of fullsize bronc guys going, though no firm committment yet.
Lets go, I need to meet some of you fookers and get the Carcass out to wheel. We can make a loop by dropping back down to I70 on Saxon

Thanks for a good run all! Ted nice vid, thanks. Now i got to learn the interweb and mpg files. I'd like a copy, but can't save it and don't know how to post them if I had it. I hae the one form Carnage. Thanks for editing out all the attempts!
Thanks and credit to Rod/Zoso for spottin' us through the Rock Garden. Great job! Ted commented that you had his trust even though he normally doesn't listen as most don't know good lines for fullsize rigs!

Let it be known that I had some regrets looking at Marks fine ride above. Very clean, great work. I had one, now it's a Carcass.

I do. I saw 8 lug axles and a long arm coil suspension.

I rode my motorcycle up there that day. Talked to the guys looking for that dog. I rode around there but saw no dog.
Hate to say it but that's a little dog and there are lots of Mountain Lions up there.

I know when we had our camping trip on saxon a few years ago, myself and several others brought dogs with, I was hesitant but I let Maggie off-leash several times to run around to her hearts content. She gave me a few good scares where she went tearing off after something into the woods and didn't come back for a few minutes, so eventually the leash went back on and I vowed to not do that again. It was good that she came back but she is prey-driven and if she were chasing a bunny or squirrel long enough she could easily get to a mile or two from where she was and not know how to get back, and shes way too fast for me to keep up with. Trained or not (and shes mostly not LOL), I just won't let her off-leash anymore even if we do take her up there again sometime.
Of course I can see her finding a bear or something, taunting it a bit, and then running back to me for safety.

Years ago I was wheeling up above Waldorf (off Guenella Pass above Georgetown) and my German Shepard took off after a deer. He ran over a ridge about a mile away. I took off after him and by the time I got to the ridge he was long gone. Now I'm a mile away from the truck at 10K feet. I walk back to the truck shouting his name but did not see him. I'm beat by now and I get closer to the truck and I hear the horn blowing non stop. I was thinking "great, now my truck is having trouble". I get down to it and my dog is sitting in the front drivers seat with his paws on the steering wheel pushing the horn. I guess he jumped in through the open window and sat there waiting. Believe it or not...
