Anyone ever try this or know anyone that has? Any thoughts on the soundness of the principle?

I havent tried it or nor have I seen anyone personally with that "kit" or any HHO (Oxyhydrogen) setup. The oxygen and hydrogen is produce through electrolysis using your cars voltage to seperate the water into its basic elements.
One thing that has me wondering the effectiveness of running a HHO setup is the fact that one cubic foot of HHO gas = 270 BTU's (British Thermal Unit) and one gallon of mid-grade gasoline has approx. 125,000 BTU's.
I would still like to see/talk to someone with an HHO setup in person.

I'm not sure about this particular system, but the guys on MythBusters tested one similar to it and the car wouldn't even start!

Over at the explorerforum there is very debated tests going on in the last couple of days/weeks etc about HHO... One member over there that is pretty well known around the site has done/tried anything that has claimed to net you better gas mileage, and the test results he puts up are very well organized and recorded. His screen name on there is Aldive, and his vehicle of choice is a 99 explorer XLT W/4.0 SOHC that now nets low to mid 30 mpg (hwy), and with the recent explosion of "hypermieling" in the news he tried that and obtained 31 mpg city, but he couldn't stand driving like that for many reasons.
Him and a couple other members from that site are joining the HHO race persay.

aldive... LOL. Man he has been around forever. I remember him doing everything he could to try to get 30mpg several years ago including taping all the doors, hood, etc. shut to make it more aerodynamic and waxing it like twice a week. He has more time than talent, I believe.

Yea, I do agree that he does have a lot of time on his hands to say the least...

That HHO thing started as a non-explosive cutting torch fuel. The thing I always say is that if it is too good to be true, it is.
Speaking of hyper mileage. I decided to try to increase my economy driving to work. I drove easy and never exceded 55 on the highway. I increased my mileage by 1.1 MPG. I drive 15 miles to work. 5 miles on surface streets and 10 on the highway. I get 26 to 27 MPG normally and got 28.1 driving slow. In that time I was on HWY76 going 55 (the speed limit) and I look back and a Durango was about to butthole me but hit the brakes and spun the thing out and missed me by inches. 1 MPG is not worth my deductable or my life. BTW, I did the math and came up with the savings for a month of driving 55. $6.89! :twocents:

Ford and BMW both are running hydrogen converters on a couple of different vehicles. If this concept ever became a Reality I would love to own one 400 HP V10 FFV

I also looked into that Waterforgas website. they want to sell it to you of course. I think they need to get it out in public eyes before actually selling a product like this with so much doubt behind it. Another Board I am on are a few members there making their own systems and are stating they wil lwalk you through the build if wanted. I am just waiting for my opportunity to see
OH NASA also is working on a System using Water to propel their rockets Using what they call the 5th stage of matter "Plasma" Which is doing the same thing as Water for gas or the old guy that uses water for his cutting torches
Also a Town in New maxico (Mexico) has been experimenting with Hydrogen powered solar dishes to run the town. As far as I know it runs the entire town and is pretty reliable

After looking more and more into this and me being able to talk about other peoples trials, I decided that I would do my own...Stopped by the local hardwarestore before and spent a total of $38.28 so far....I am not expecting to spend alot on this and I am going to expect a certain 20% gain or anything that way I can not get let down, but if I do get a gain I will let you all know asap...Partial build will begin tomorrow and not sure how long it will take total but expect some more info to come soon

I tried to work on it a bit today but I had an interview for a new job (Got it and start tomorrow WOOT!) The generator is almsot done, need to add the hose that will run to the bubbler and negative connection/steup. The Bubbler (Used to prevent a flashback explosion) is just started, but shouldn't take long since much less to it then the generator. Just need to decide/get the hose that I plan to use adn the bubbler will be done real quick after. The generator is a bit smaller then I wanted, but hey what can you do? A few members on the explorerforum are talking about O2 sensor changes, and how they may retune PCM and overide it, some just leave it alone, some want to manual control A/F ratios.
I would like to be able to test this at least out side of my car sometime soon, but now that I got this new job it may be tough to get much work done right now...I still have the pizza joint job for the next 2 weeks, so the new job is 8am-5pm and the pizza place is suposed to start at 5pm but talked to the boss and its fine if I am like 15 min after 5, so now 5:30pm-9 or 10pm, not leaving much time for this project but going to still try to get it done soon.

9-5 isn't very standard anymore, unless you work without a lunch braek. Almost no employers provide a paid lunch break anymore so if you want it, gotta do the 8-5, 7-4, 9-6, etc.

x2, production here runs 7-4, with an hour unpaid for lunch. I'm technically on an 8-5 schedule, but very rarely leave by 5.

I need to pick up some air hose of some sort and then silicone it into place and it should be good to go...I wish I could of had this done alot sooner but yesterday was another 14 hour day...today I dont work at the second job and tomorrow ended up having both off... since I have started this research has continued to devople the designs of these generators so mine is all ready "old tech." so we will see
