So last week I went home to bring my old 75 back to Gunnison to start workin on it again. It blew up on me on monarch, I threw a bearing and then the engine siezed on me. Now the gf's dad offered to give me an 87 302 gt engine! Which is bumpin my hp up by 100! Anyone know what I will need for this conversion?? My blown engine is a 360. I have the fly wheel and am going to buy a kevlar clutch for it. Can I just get a bellhousing to have it match up to the engine from an 87 mustang or will I need a whole new tranny? PLEASE HELP...:D:confused::confused::confused::confused:

It just not that simple. The old FE blocks use a different motor mount, your clutch linkage may or may not line up, if its a FI 302 ,you will need to run new fuel lines(pressure and return) as well as run a high pressure pump, and as far as bellhousings go who knows but the FORD gods(why couldn't they just make thing interchange).I'm not saying not to do this. Just be prepared for some major downtime(plan for the worst-hope for the best kind of thing). Good luck and keep us posted.....

he can still keep it simple and run a carb, (manifold and carb). as far as the trannies. youll need to find one from a small block Ford with 4x4 (if thats the case) Make sure you get a complete Tranny with the flexplate and converter. so its all correct for that ERA

I do want to keep it all fi it will be a huge pain but I work at the ford dealer down here so I can hook it up to the computer and do what ever I want when im done so it wil be worth the headache in the end plus I would rather have the fi for wheelin instead of the carb. I am thinkin I can get the new bellhousing out of an f150 with the 302 or the trany. I dunno what trany I have now its the 4 speed and I have a rare tcase that has no 4 low so I need to redo my whole drivetrain.

203's have low range. I think the only t-case that ford used that didnt have low was the dana 21, but that was only used until 1973. The dana 21 was just a 2wd / 4wd shifter with no range box.

Do you have any way of throwing a pic of your t-case shifter up on here?

My '74 F-100 4x4 has a Dana 21, it also had a 390. ;) I've seen other trucks from the same era with the power divider.
