As most know, the engine in the F-150 had to be replaced in February. Last night on the way home from work, the check engine light came on and started running rough. It no longer had that smooth idle. I'm a little frustrated. Since the truck was fixed, I've not driven it much, because it was in the body shop for 5 weeks following the engine being replaced. I think I've put about 500 miles on the new engine.
I'm hoping it's something that just came loose. Kind of sucks, I've got things to do, and truck things keep getting in the way.

Turns out it was bad coil pack that caused the check engine light.
Found out the leaf springs are twisted, throwing off the alignment. Will not be able to get parts probably until Wednesday.:BangHead:

Mann that sucks, good thing it was just a coil pack, My buddy who I picked up the back window from Matt from had his engine replaced last year in his 99, the damn shop didnt even put new plugs in it ( I wont mention any names, :cough: parker automotive) And can you believe they didnt even replace the plugs in a new engine with a truck with 110k on it? then he had to pay them another 3 hundred and change. I didnt know until afterwords it happened or he would have brought it to me. Ever since he got it back I told him it was running rough and he kept telling me his mileage was horrible. I told him to take it back, they better warranty it after spending about 8 grand. but he needs it to make money to buy the gas to go to work lol
I thought it was going to be a coil pack also the way it ran, but it turned out it was a bad plug DAMN
mike black tape can fix your check engine light :D

My $800 Bronco is looking better everyday. It was supposed to be my weekend warrior, but it has turned into my daily driver for the last three months. Too bad it has bias tires on it, by the time the truck is ever done, the Bronco is going to need new tires.

Picked up the truck tonight. I took that bitch for a spin. I tried to blow the motor through the hood. I was driving north on I-25, daring the fawking check engine light to come on. It's probably a good thing it did not, I probably would have pulled over and shot it, then left the keys in it and walked away.:D
so.......... you locked the keys in it again man hore

My light went off. I disconnected the battery to change the dash lamps, the light has yet to return other than start-up. I haven't driven it far yet, maybe 10 miles round trip.
The P.O. told me she would disco the battery while waiting to get emissioned. The light would come on as she drove away. Hopefully the filler neck and sealed exhaust will do the trick.
I've isolated the rattling noise under the hood, it's under the timing cover.
I want to drive this thing to G.J. on the 14th. This could get painful, with crunch time and all.
BTW Jeff, I'm glad it's running well for you.

I know this from first hand knowledge. When doing emissions, they will not fail you, just because the check engine light is on. They will point it out to you, but will go ahead and do the test.

If the light had returned, I'd have to pull the code$$$$$ and deal with whatever problems exi$$$$$t. Now I can pull the timing cover and investigate that noise. While I have it open, I might as well replace the belt and tensioner. That's $50 worth of peace-of-mind right there! LOL

Add a water pump, lower hose, spark plugs...so far.

Ouch! Fawking ouch! How much is shop rate? I'm trying to remember why I do this crap.
Timing belt and tensioner, water pump, T-stat, lower radiator hose, all 8 spark plugs...I'm pretty sure most of that crap was put on at the factory and I dodged some major malfunctions.
I'm dissappointed after a test drive, but at least that rattle sound is gone, and I'm driving to work.
