He bakes the ring gear to expand so it will slip onto the carrier case smoothly, and it is done slowly since it is a heat treated surface...torching it can cause it to weaken...

Crap, had I known you guys were doing it I woulda hauled my ass up that way to join as well... I kinda wanted to know how an Aussie went in seeing as I'll be throwing mine in the Ranger here in the next few weeks.
