So I went to 2 haunted houses w/ my girlfriend last night and all is well until coming home at about I-25 & Lincoln going south. I was going fine, then I noticed that my explorer wasn't accelerating very well and was trying to shift down to get more power. Well I got down to about 50 mph on the highway  , and then all hell broke loose! It began... first off I couldn't see, because I had smoke billowing out of the front end, so I pull off to the side of the road and turn the engine off. then I go over and open the hood, and even more smoke just pours out onto the highway, so at that moment I thought it was going to catch on fire :( . Next, after calling my gf's mom to come pick us up((my parents were having a halloween party, and I knew that they would be wasted)), the fire dept. came w/ a fire truck, an ambulance, and a cop car((I guess someone must have called it in or something)). So, after talking w/ the firemen for a while, the cop asks me if we need a tow, so he calls one, my explorer gets home, I get home w/ my girlfriend, my drunk parents and their friends decided to try and figure out what was wrong with it, the I took my girlfriend home, and went to sleep. This morning, I found out that the front seal blew on my transmission, and all the oil came streaming out of it, and onto the exaust mainfold ((causing all the smoke)).
SOOOO, I need ANOTHER transmission rebuild, and I am gonna take it to the same guy that did it before ((because my tranny blew only 13-14000 miles ago  )) and he better fix it for damn near free cause it's his fault for not putting the seal on correctly!!
So, now I don't know how I'm gonna get around
Sorry for the rant, but I feel better now.

I guess you could say yesterday was not a good day for either of us. Here's my experience from yesterday.

That sucks about the tranny. If the shop won't work with you on the price, you should try the shop that rebuilt Matt's. And Jeff, what the hell?

I was not driving, but I saw it happened. I took my truck into the shop yesterday to have some work done and when they were backing out of the garage, they ran into some shelves along the wall.

Ouch, that sucks big time man, to both of you! Jeff, what'd you hit (or what hit you?). Sorry to hear abotu the troubles, wish I could help out, but heres the best I can do...
jeff, call precision auto works, I dont have thei rnumber handy. They might be able to do some body work or if it requires a new tailgate, they can at least paint it for you.
Rino, call A-affordable transmission. Their contact info is on the "friends" page. That's if you dont get it fixed by the guy that fixed it last time.

Jeff, when do we find out about this secret work going on at Offroad Inovations?

It's not a secret, people here already know. I'm just not telling anybody directly. Certain members have found out on their own. Besides, things did not go as planned yesterday and they were not able to do the work. I will be going back there this coming Saturday to drop off the truck. And if by the 21st of November you still do not know, then come out to the Toys for Tot event.

yes, I was quite pleased when he said that it was all under warranty and that he knew what was most likely wrong with it.

Well, I haven't talked to him since I took it in on Monday, so I'm not sure how long it'll take.
As for your tranny, I bet they would still warrant it. :laughing3:

Jeff, when do we find out about this secret work going on at Offroad Inovations?

Things are not going to work out as planned. I will be picking up my parts tomorrow, but they will not be doing the work. So, I don't know when the project will get done.

Heath

ORI did pay for the damages this morning and I'm satisfied with how it was handled. They apologized for the inconvience this caused.

Thats good news. I hope they aren't taking it out of some poor techs pay, but you shouldn't be expected to pay for it either.

Thats why they have insurance right...

I gave them three estimates and I asked for money on the lowest estimate to keep costs down to them.
