Northern colorado trail run, Kelly Flatts

So, I thought maybe I could get some takers for a trail run here, say, May 3rd? A way to kick back before finals, have a bbq and take the rigs for some excercise. Kelly flatts can be done stock, yet has some obsticles for some crawlers. also theres some mudding area down south of the trail. Anyone here be interested? Final plans are: meeting at safeway on mullberry and college, may 3 at 10am. everyone is welcome to camp.

It's a possibility. I could hit the poudre later that day maybe even head up to chambers. Would anyone else be interested in camping that nite? Maybe meet at jonsons corner or verns for a good diner style breakfast first?

right on. I'm thinking about going to the Browns Park campground it's off the laramie river road a ways I see moose in there in the morning all the time. They do have holes in the ground and tables other than that it is completely primative. I have had snow up there at that time of yr but never so much so that I couldn't camp. The campground is also almost always empty that time of yr.

the whole poudre river and there are a couple small ponds up there that have trout. I love that whole area. Anytime you want to head up that way just drop me a line

This might be fun, I could bring out the XK and do some easy wheeling with it. Never camped up there, would be a great way to start the season.

oh yeah chambers lake is up there as well which can have a boat dropped into if anyone has a boat.

I'll be a last minute maybe on this one. Untill my boss changes my schedule I'll be pushing it, which had me pretty pissed off.

FYI, I just checked the USDA site, and Kelly Flats is still listed as closed. We might want to confirm that its open as we get closer to the date.

No they have seasonal gates on that trail.

I have never been on this trail how is it? And is it far from Kelly Flatts? Better yet how far is it from Denver?

bout 3 hrs from denver. Not a bad trail for scenery not a lot of obstacles not doable without tearing up the trail this time of year.

That was my thought process. I know a bunch of places that are open to fishing/ camping up there. Would be nice if someone would want to head up with me on a friday nite to ensure we have sites/spots based on where we decide to camp.

sorry about the long time to reply. this has been a mess. my truck got trashed, and have been trying to find a new place. now that everything is calming down, i can get back to organizing a trip lol. everything up here is closed until mid may. didnt get a chance to go up there with all this going on, but the forest service said id may it will be open. so im thinking either may 24th or early june.... thoughts?
