That's what it sounds like when hot slag lands in your ear.
Scared the daylights outta me for the first couple seconds. I never thought hearing the boss bitch and complain like an old married woman would sound so wonderful.
I have to see the production manager anyway, he'll probably review the report with me. Might be a good time to request some muffs I can wear with my hat.

Up until the day i got hot shlag in my ear hole the thing i hated the most about torching and welding was knowing someone in the shop was going to launch a bottle rocket or some black cats at me. I had a welt once, for 4 days from a bottle rocket hitting me in the back of the neck when i first started working on the dodge.

LOL Tachometer good! This shivee I worked on a few weeks ago, the guy's stepdad is pretty much deaf, keeps grinding up starters and ring gears. I keep telling him to get the old boy a tach so he knows when the engine has started.
The boss insisted the earplugs won't melt. I thought we had such an incident a few years ago, so I never use them when I have to torch under a car. I'm sure I'll hear all about it in the morning...Pun intended. :-)
Thanks fellas!
