Is there anyone on this forum that would be interested in replacing mine on a 92 XL? I will pay a fair price. There is a knocking when I do trails. Thanks.

147K miles. All manual.

Or... can you suggest someone that can do it reasonably? Thanks again. I don't think I have the expertise. I have done the shock, plugs and thermostat, but that's about it.

I noticed that 4X4 shop on South Jason isn't there. Has he moved?

I can't remember, does your vehicle have a lift on it? If so, then it wouldn't be too bad... oen of the biggest pains of the radius arms is getting the rivets broken free but if you've got a lift, thats already been done. It's still not a cakewalk though thats for sure.
As far as getting it done, its not a project I can do anytime soon, because of all my own projects going on. Not really sure who to recommend either.

yeah, by the time I replaced my RA bushings, I already had my lift on, so it was pretty easy, but like Matt said-- The rivets are a PITA.
I could maybe help out a little- I don't know I'm pretty busy this week-- got a big game coming up, so football practice is longer than normal.

No lift. I'm going to check the rivets. If they are there, I'm going to have a exhaust shop cut them out and replace them with grade 8 bolts. Should be about $25. Thanks for the reply.

^^ That would help alot in getting them in. ^^
I probably spent about 45 min trying to get those damn rivets out, then I just used a smoke wrench :P

(Stupid Q) Are the radius arms the pieces that the lower end of the shock are bolted to? I can't find any rivets. There is a large bolt poited towards the back. Is that the busing area? (Remember, I am old, so be kind.)

Radius arm bushings are simple as I have always owned a half ton ford that has needed them. :laughing3:

I can't say that I have used a torch to get the rivets out but a good grinder with a good thin cutting disk makes life easy.

If you need help or would like I could do them for you.

It's easy and you don't even need to pull the rivets...

Just pull the springs, shocks, anti-sway bar and use another truck or pull pall and move the axle forward enough to slip those bad boys in. Put some nylon ones inside and rubber outside. That way you only replace the outside ones... :)
