so scince i put on my fog lights the dash lights will flicker once on a while when i have the heat on.hasnt done in a few weeks. well to night i found out the cig lighter ground was nasty so i cleaned it.it works, (i did it so i can use my cell charger) well i went to start it and it would click, so i jumped it and it almost dies at lights,the dash lights flickered bad too. after a hour of driveing it seemed ok, i was gonna toss it on the charger just to b safe, turned it off and tryed to turn it bak on, and it just clicks. bad battery?, i am going to get a new alt when i do my 4.0 clutch/flywheel/starter swap.....so im hopeing its not that.

You need to measure voltage while the engine is running. Hopefully you have over 13.5 volts.

It could be the battery is shot, or the terminals have enough resistance built up to impeed charging and starting.

Worst case you can find cheap at pull-n-save.

yep the volts read 13.5, the terminals were cleaned a week ago, im gonna go get the battery out of my other ranger and we will see if that fixes it.

Make sure to check the ground cable for the battery...at both ends..the battery end, and the ground end. Make sure engine to frame ground strap is in good shape too.

My truck shows 15-16V when running...

Could be the cold weather killing your weak ass battery too...

put a new battery in and it started right up. the hold batt was made in 04,had a crack in the case and the positive termanel came out when i took it off, all fixed:D

I am right there with you sir, at least at the end of the day your ranger wont cheat on you or lie to you. All you gotta do it give it a little love and it will love you right back. I love my truck
