Dan, whats going on man, long time no see or hear? If you're looking to have it shipped, Summit Racing is the best bet. I had to order from them back in Dec and it was the best experience I've had. If you're looking local, I'll suggest On Track Performance off Dartmouth and Santa Fe
3044 S. Platte River Dr.
Englewood CO 80110
I've never used them before, but I used to work with a guy who bought stuff for his car's all the time from them. Talk to John (Glass) and see, I think he's used them once or twice.

Are you looking for a stock engine 351w, A performance 351w, or even a 351w based 392 stroker ?
JAsper engines (never used the guys, but i know alot of shops who do) Has a "stage 1" 351w for an 1988 F-150. Basically its a little over stock build, with a cam for more torque. Thier stock number for this engine is #197216.
The Price Is: $2162.00
Core Deposit For This Unit Is: $350.00
Skid Deposit For This Unit Is: $15.00
Sold On An Exchange Basis w/Jasper Receiving Old Unit As A Core.
Thier "performance engine" is $200 more than the stock engine replacment.
Jasper has 3 year, 30,000 mile warranty..a.s long as some things are done while installing the engine..small things like distributor, etc.
Heres your options thru summitracing . Looks like only 2 stock engines, the rest are very high performance, and very high priced. Dont know about fitament, and if they will work with your stock computer or not...

Heres a link to the ford motorsports catalog. Pages 83-94 has crate engines, no prices on them...But gives you a ton of info, and a good tech line to call.

And..you can always try getting one thru a dealership.
Remember to change either your torque converter and input seal on the transmission while the engine is out, or your clutch and flywheel.

I would recomend Car quest for a general Rebuild, the last jasper I had leaked from rear main and turned into a huge mess for my customer. it took over a year to get everything replaced from the UPS damaged parts as well. I got my 460 with a 5 year 50k rebuild from gopher for 1500. and I have installed several of these in customers cars without a single problem. As far as performance engines. thats a hit and miss on the luck side. you never know. I would trust to have it built by a local machine shop with a reputation before going with a high dollar good luck to you engine built by god knows who.

Try going to Advance Auto Parts as well sicne they sell crate motors. Never bought one from them but they are another source if all you want is a basic replacement motor.

something to consider when buying a reman, you need to find out what company builds them, I wouldnt ever go with a Re con, Ever, their website has the information to become a Re-con engine builder, requirements to be a recon engine builder requires two years of experience in the automotive field. thats not saying much since it takes that long to learn just the basics working in the field doing light line work. I hate removing and replacing stuff that shouldnt need to be. Really sucks tearing out a brand new engine and not even get paid for the second time around because the engine was not assembled wrong. I also had roadrunner remans from Napa, changed the sameo ne out twice, luckily Napa stood behind their roadrunner engines and paid some of the labor.
always see if you can find out if they replaced parts with either new or old

hey guys, thanks for the input. i had this motor rebuilt at havana machine, about 7 years ago ,tried to get them to add a cam but they would'nt. but when i tore it down a couple months ago i found out thier job was'nt that good, not happy with them at all. anyway been fighting this overheating for 2 years and it's only when it's under a load. so it's time for a whole new one and hoping to get a little above stock but wanting a quality place to get one.

I was afraid of something like that. They got big, I started to wonder how quality would hold up. Last time I used them was '96, or '97, I was happy that time.

I bet they honed them walls out a bit too much, as far as local machine shops, I would recomend F & M Machine, only for the sole reason that my buddy swears by them to be very reliable and good quality work as well as MPG but F & M is a bit more affordable.

that's what i'm thinking also that they honed the walls to close and i believe that's why i'm having overheating after i seen what they did to the heads i would'nt be surprised. not looking to rebuild this motor, had about 300,000 before the rebuild, ran it real hot a few times since this problem started 2 years ago, trying to blow it up, but it is one tough ford motor for what i've done to it. so i figured i might be safer getting a crate

Hey Dan, Mark (Bloodbane) had a similar issue with his 302...........pinholes in the cyl walls because it was bored out .060" before he got it. Waaaaaaay too much bore for a SB Ford.
I hope you can find a good one soon.

I can refer you to someone who will build you a bad ass 351 and probably save you some dough. He ran a mild built 306 in his fairlane four door for 9 + years running 13.50s consistently. hes a master ford technician as well and knows how to make the power you need for a cheap budget. He also stands behind his work, as well knows to make sure the machine shop does their job properly, measures everything before re assembly
just an idea if you are interested here is a link to his business
