A friend has a 2003 explorer sport trac, the slave cylinder was leaking fluid, and stopped working. I replaced the clutch, slave cylinder, and clutch master. Bled them all off according to Ondemand5, adjusted the clutch plate springs and clutch fingers according to ford, the clutch manufacturer, and Ford. Everything is torqued, and bled correctly.

Still only half a clutch pedal, after bleeding it until i was blue in the face, checking, and triple checking everything, it still does not work. I watch the slave while the clutch pedal is depressed, and it only moves about 1 inch, not enough to release the clutch.

I am not looking foward to pulling the transmission again to replace the slave cylinder, but it looks like the one i got was bad. I hope that Car Quest has some kind of labor claim, my friend can file for, so that they pay for me doing it the 2nd time, and so my friend does not have to pay me a 2nd time since the slave he brought me was crap (not his fault).

I hate getting shitty parts.

do they have different part# for throw out bearings on that model ?usually I find out too late that You have to get the correct throw bearing for the correct pressureplate/slavecylinder combo last clutch I did it was just the oposite it wouldnt relese is seems so its always slipping ??I havent investigated it further cause the engine lost oil pressure
How do You adjust the springs ? on the pressureplat?

The same thing happen to me with Napa parts, ended up using a Ford slave cylinder and now its good. Hope its easier for you. Good luck.

Deffinently going to submit labor claim to car quest he got it from, and hes going to try another car quest slave, if that doesnt work, ill talk to him about using a fomoco slave on it.

Its sad when doing head gaskets on a 96 f-250 with a 460 last week is going up to be easier than doing a slave on this sport trac..lol

had that happen to me a few times because I didnt get a good bench bleed on the master slave. also had a few new ones bad, even from ford we still got em, and car quest always backed up our work with their parts
