Anyone around have the tools to rebuild a tranny? I dont know what the tools are, or what they do....but i need to rebuild my tranny, it started some bad slippage today at the track...it would slip, then catch, then slip, then catch, and it was pothetic...any help would be appreciated. Im calling a tranny builder i know tomorrow to see what heel charge incase its something i cant find the tools to do.

Unfortunately never rebuilt one myself, but just had one rebuilt... check the club discounts forum for info on a-affordable transmissions, you'd have to get it to denver but we get fleet discount there.

If it is an auto, the only special tool you should need is a spring compressor for the clutch packs. And a good assortment of snap ring pliers. The spring compressor is kind of funky and hard to explain, but it allows you to stick a drum in it and compress a spring pack to get all the parts out.

Thanks, i might find a good rebuild kit and pull the tranny if i can find the tools at work...i bet we have what i need there. Im just hoping that i dont get done rebuilding the tranny, only to find out it is my transfer case..haha. Or else ill be driving a 53 ford to work chained up.

Never built one and never will(unless somebody wants to teach me for free)
