View Full Version : TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE
Matt, Courtney and I saw a sneak preview of "Team America: World Police" tonight and it was the funniest movie I've seen in quite awhile. A lot of it due to the absurdity of using marionettes in an action flick, partly because of hilarious story and music. "South Park" fans will be right at home - the style of humor is the same - pretty blue. I think the final reason it was so funny is it lets us laugh at ourselves and the whole state of the world we live in today. With the daily threat of terrorism, it's nice to get away and just laugh.
I'd guess us guys will enjoy it more than the gals, at least this was true for our little group, but to each their own. The movie opens next Friday (October 15th) and I highly recommend it for a few good laughs... :D

Yeah, the movie was absolutely fucking hilarious. I dont think I've ever laughed so consistently at a movie like that. And some scenes had me ROLLING, like when the two puppets were having sex and stuff LOL.

yeah, i laughed a few times but it was WAY too long. Funny idea but hurry it up! I didnt really laugh at all at the plot... only how the marionettes moved and the kitties... silly stuff like that... i thought the plot was pretty dumb.

I caught you laughing at the :puke: scene too... LOL.
Yeah, we all know the truth, Courtney. You're just trying to maintain your womanly innocence about actually enjoying gross guy-humor. :D:P

yeah... i did laugh at that, but even though i laughed, i didnt think it was funny, i thought it was gross. I was either laughing at you laughing at it or i was laughing at how funny the puppet looked doing it... definately wasent laughing at the content of the scene.

This weekend was a blur, but sometime during the past couple of days I did see an hour show on the behind the scenes for this movie. It was funny listening to the directors, writers, producers, etc. explain their philosophy, story line, and how they filmed the different scenes.

America...F**K YEAH!
I saw this movie last night, freakin halarious. The songs were great. I've always liked Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the way they do things is pretty damn funny. On a funny note, Matt mentioned when he laughed at the puppets having sex...which was a halarious part...they were forced to cut that scene short because the censors said it was too long...they wanted it to be 3+ minutes and it was only 45 seconds :D
If you guys like this one, you should check out Cannibal the Musical. It's the only other movie Stone and Parker have made other than the South Park movie...funny funny stuff. It's tough to find, but worth it when you see it.
So that's it? Doty is the only one who took Matt and my recommendation to see this hilarious film? Jeez, I'm starting to feel like a film critic here - nobody's listening... :( I'm telling you - it is funny! :D In fact, I'd issue this dare: if anyone from this board sees this film and doesn't laugh at least once, (as witnessed by me) I'll buy 'em a beer...

I'm not a movie person. I'll catch movies on HBO, Starz, etc. at home. There are not too many movies that I really like.

I'm with Jeff on this one. I'd rather watch a movie in the comfort of my own home than shell out cash to be annoyed by unruly crowds.
Just wanted to let those who don't already know that Team America is now on DVD. Run, don't walk, to your local videorama and rent it! :D If you appreciate South Park and Dumb & Dumber, you'll enjoy this movie. It's inevitable...

Well I've been to the video store twice, and I still can't bring myself to rent it... So instead I bought Star Wars IV, V and VI... SWIII was pretty good too... Tied it all together well I thought...

That's because it's a good, funny movie - you only rent unfunny crappy movies... :P:D

Yes, but that will NEVER surpass Career Opportunities and Bottle Rocket!!!

In pure suckitude? No, no - I think Biker Boyz wins that one hands down. "I'm Ice Cube and I'm gonna look so damned badass on camera that it hurts!" LOL. Oh, no - WAIT! That wasn't "Biker Boyz," that was "Torque," yet ANOTHER crappy motorcycle movie you made us watch! ROFL.
Speaking of "Career Opportunities," HBO keeps running it lately, Matt. I keep contemplating DVRing it for you - then I realize I never want to watch it again and the feeling passes... :P

Why would HBO run career opportunities? That movie is like 15 years old. Maybe they have the version where we get to see her boobs? :)
It wasn't just HBO - it was HBO HD! LOL. Just imagine, Jennifer Connelly in high def! As for why they're running it? Either they have no other programming to speak of or someone there really likes Jennifer Connelly - like you do...
