This may be a repost, but I have to say... I agree...The Urine Test Like a lot of folks in this country... I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their butt and using drugs. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

That's very unpolitically correct of you Heath, and you should be ashamed of your self for even thinking such homophobic and racist thoughts!
I have no idea why it would be homophobic and racist, but I'm sure your intent was in there somewhere and for that you should be ashamed.
I demand you redeem yourself by joining a sensitivity training course that focuses on embracing people that can't put the bong down long enough to find a job! You must also pledge to tithe 10% of your earnings to the ACLU for the next year and agree to have no contact with that Kramer guy from Sienfeld. :)

I think it would cost the state even MORE money pulling all the kids out of the homes of the parents caught with drugs in thier systems and deemed "unfit parents". Paying for more kids to go to foster care, building more room for kid facility things....
It would save on public assistance, but cost in other areas.
Its a good tought, but i think it would open up a whole new problem.
Urine testing on city, county, state, and federal employees would be great. All the people i know who work for city, county, state or federal Gov. have random urine tests, after they have an accident on the job and thats it.

We used to joke at our company that if we ever started having to do drug tests, about half of the employees would be fired LOL.

I see that happening in my area (not at MY work, but in the area). There's a huge influx of people working for the energy industry, and a huge meth monkey following right along. These guys clean up for their hire on, then start using because they're being tasked with 12-16hr days, and a couple days off a month. Although the random testing is a stated specter, what it really comes down to is "Have an accident, and you're gonna piss". When these guys have an accident that gets reported, they just quit before they can be tested. Take 2 weeks off to clean up and rest up, then go get a job on another rig.
Pretty pathetic really.

Glass who said anything about pulling the kids... Granted its not the kids fault, but MOST parents would do something to provide food and shelter for their kids... If I got into a situation I would grovel to friends/family if I had to for a corner in their basement to keep my kids warm and work at MickyD's for food for them...
Ray I can solve this sensitivty problem... I just put you on my ignor list and won't have to read about my insesitivity issues... I would also miss your joking drivel though, that would be sad...

You're ignoring me? What are you? Female? I haven't even hit on you yet. You gotta wait until I show interest before you can ignore me.
Then you have to at least give me the number to the Rejection Hotline and say its your phone number.
I mean, come on! I do have standards to uphold when being rejected. :)

Drug test are a lose lose for everyone, they are a waste of money for the people that dont use (like me) and they are a waste of time for the people that do use because they will find a job doing something else that doesnt require a test or they will just clean up to pass the test and start right back up on the drugs again. What is the point really.

Drug test are a lose lose for everyone...What is the point really. Because it is easier than trying to fire someone for being incredibly stupid. Plus it lets worker's comp screw you even worse if you fail to study for that drug test.

I tried studying for the drug test. It doesn't work.
I walked in there with a near encyclopedic knowledge of the origin, history and proper use of each drug they were testing for. I brought along pipes, lighters, needles, spoons, cotton balls for people to place in their mouths to simulate certain drugs effects on the body, graphs of drug use, pie charts and even ACTUAL pie in case of the munchies. All they did was confiscate all of my supplies and made me pee in a little cup.
Damn people wouldn't even let me have my pie! :(
