One of the times we were really scraping to pull ends together I brought home a washing machine from a dumpster area. It was noisey but it worked, and a bonus, no leaks.

After rolling under a car for a few days, I decide to wash my overalls and other asstd grimy stuff. I did a pre-soak, hot with bleach, along a couple more hot washes to get the crud out of the machine. Next load my wife ran there was a diamond ring sitting in the bottom of the tub, such a deal!

Diamond ring? I dunno if I buy that one but good way to win over the misses. That whole chicken story is interesting though I have never heard anything like that before
