I have never done this. It's a 4.0 pushrod. What would it cost kinda to do this? Is it feasible that I can do it?

you need to rebuild the engine, or just replace a pushrod?

I don't need a rebuild yet, but I'm thinking about doing it next year maybe. It has 146K and it's starting to leak oil in places. Just thinking.

Its not too difficult. Make sure you have a large, clean area to lay out the parts. Otherwise it is mostly lots of measuring to know which parts to machine and which to replace. It is really kind of fun I think.

Sounds like a fun project. I just need to find and engine to replace, or to rebuild. (I know, this is probably stupid, but I just want to do it.)

It doesn't sound stupid to me. Like I said, it's kind of fun, and relaxing in its own way.

Yup, I'm not one of the 'team' players. This one sounds like a lot of fun. I think that I should get an engine that will fit in my vehicle. Rebuild that puppy like the best I can do, and go for it. Thanks for any input and encouragement. The only issue that I have is that I am task oriented. That could be a problem. (I want it done NOW!) But, I also want it to be a very good rebuild.

You'll need some patience, and some measuring tools. You will need a micrometer set and some way to measure the inside of bores on the valve guides and cylinders. I prefer a dial bore gauge on the cylinders, and a split ball for the valve guides.

Would it be reasonable to just replace the valve guides?

always a good option to replace everything you can afford, but not entirely necesary.

I still don't have an idea on what this would cost, doing it responsibly. But I can guess it's not going to be cheap. But probably better than spending it on booze. (Maybe not.)

A fair estimate would be $200 per hole, 6 cylinders = approximately $1200. Anything left over buys the booze. LOL...

That's a good factor. Thanks.....
