hmm didn't get to see it before it was flagged. Honestly though, it may not even be anyone you know messing with you. I remember back when I was looking for a land rover (when I thought I'd be able to fit in one) I saw pictures of the same exact land rover (same exact pictures (in denver craigslist, as well as on ebay in new york. Apparently the dude in New York stole the pics, put em up on on ebay to try to defraud someone, but it didn't work :).
Don't let it stress you too much :)

here's how the ad read
"I am giving away a 1993 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer edition This truck is awesome. I have had it for sale for so long and replaced it with another truck that I have decided to just give it away for free. The truck has the following:351W 5.8L with 260,000 miles on it, 4 new 31X10.50 BF Goodrich All Terrains tires. I can loose a 1/4 in the treads, Kenwood CD player with iPod Hook up. The Con's Truck over heats every once and awhile, the front bumper is missing, a MASSIVE Rock rash scrap right behind the passenger door that can be popped out. The top has NEVER been removed from the truck. Thats a plus and rare find. Its currently parked in front of my house with my truck club banner on the front windshield."
Unless someone drove by my house and saw it, they would have no idea where it is parked.

I bet it was someone with the mental power of a pissed off 5 year old ( Pissed off 5 year olds also spit on peoples trucks.) Doubtfull, the ad was coherent. The spelling, grammer and punctuation were pretty darned good.
It was someone who knows Chuck well enough. I'll bet C-L can trace the ad to the free email box that was used...if that was the case. ;)

Its one thing to put it up on Craigslist to screw with someone but it is another to put the ad up with there full name and a phone number. Not sure if it was the right name and number but thats what I think made it that much worse.

I just talked to a friend of mine who works for the SO up here. We were talking and i brought this situation up.
If the (false) post on craigslist caused you to get repeated phone calls, and interupted your life it can be considered harassment. A person does not have to be 'harassing' you themselves to stick the charge to them.
If someone (posts your personal information, attached to a flase add stating you are giving away your truck) knowing that you will get phone calls, replies, or inquries about the truck, wether or not thier intent was to harass you or not, they did in fact harass you...
Ohh yeah, the 'harassment' must cause "emotional distress" which it sounded like you were having when you called me to ask if i knew anything about who did it.
CLASS 5 FELONY. MANDATORY RESTRAINING ORDER.
I can give you the link to the colorado revised statutes page, which he cited, that give complete information on the laws if you want Chuck

That makes one out of the club...Ohh, hey, can i post your name and number on craigslist so you cant eat your dinner, work on your truck, relax and watch tv, or anything else without being bothered??
EDIT...
After this amount of time, i want to change my "guess"
I think it was colonel Mustard, in the study, with a candlestick...

CLASS 5 FELONY. MANDATORY RESTRAINING ORDER.
Wow, isn't that enough to keep you from legally owning a firearm?
I'm feeling more distressed by the minute, I could lose my new job over crap like this. ;-/

PM sent...Craigslist probobally wont give out the IP address without a search warrant from a police dept or county sheriff office, and for that you would need a case number, and the detective would have to do it.
But its worth a try, maybe they wwill give it to you anyways..lol

That sucks! The worst part is that someone could have gone to your house and towed it off, thinking it was free. When I posted the camper on CL a guy came and hooked his tow truck up to it and left the tow truck in the driveway overnight. I don't know if the tow truck broke down or couldn't haul the camper, but i was pissed that he just left the thing there with no explanation. The same thing could have happened to you. The guy sees the add, swings by, hooks up the car and takes off, thinking he got it before anyone else could get there.
I say bug CL for info and call the cops. Whoever did that deserves to have to explain it to a judge.
