A 4x4 usage Q

I have a 92 manual, etc. If I need a granny low, is there ant danger in using the vehicle in 4x4 low and NOT engaging the hubs? Thanks for any replies.

I've never tried before, and I'm not sure that low range will engage without the hubs. Try it and let us know. I don't imagine how it could hurt anything if all it is doing is giving you a lower gear ratio. I have gone up trails in the Mts. where I've gone into 4low just for the gearing and not for a lack of traction.
